And what no-one would imagine, right there in the countryside is still one of world most innovative and advanced ships propeller factories. They invented and make a patented kind of "seamless shifting" hundested propellers, that can seamless change pitch while engine running on the way. Has the same effect like gear shifting without steps in cars. This can adapt to various conditions like strong headwind or waves or loading or towing vessels or fishing gear and helps engines massively in beeing fuel efficient, strong or fast. Very sophisticated high tech systems, which you would not expect to come from such a rural country.

Allow me to comment in danish, for training purposes: Din udtale af ordet "gårdbutik" er rigtig god.

I remember visiting Knud Rasmussens house many years ago, out of season, and they had really a lot of red squirrels around the house by then! Untill some years ago we actually had a "hunting season" for squirrels, untill the hunters realized, that killing probably the most cute and loved animal in the woods and around, was a bad policy for becoming popular as a hunter, so they quit the hunt and had to let squirrels eat a few of those eegs that would eventually become birds to be shot and killed by the hunters!!

Hundested, home of my heart. Now I liver in Langeland - I strongly recommend a trip down here too. Visit Langelandsfortet wich was key in the Cuba Crisis, see the middleage castle Tranekær Slot and its garden, visit Tåsinge Bryghus on the way :)

DR has a lot of videos about Knud Rasmussen on their pages. I think there is one where Kronprins Frederik joins the expedition, after all he is trained as Special force soldier. If I remember correct, there is a nice, calm interview with him from a cozy tent in the winter wilderness.

There are SOMETIMES slurpies at Circle K in Virum where Kongevejen and Frederiksdalsvej meet. Just outside Lyngby. However, most of the time they're not ready for sale, just like this one.

When the muncipalities of Frederiksværk & Hundested were to be fusioned a few decades ago, someone jokingly suggested that the name of this new muncipality should be Frederiks Hundeværksted 😂 - litt. Frederik's Dog-workshop ( "Frederik's Hound-workstead" ). Luckily the people up there opted for the shorter and easier Halsnæs instead however 😉

No, you actually said that word nearly perfectly, Miranda 😉 Nice to see that poor knee of yours working well again 😊 We call these weird contraptions "hoppe-puder" [ hop-pe-pooð*-er ] - "bouncing pillows / cushions" 😉 ( ð is c. like the voiced "-th" in "with" - a diminished version where the tip of your tongue ends up against the inner side of your lower front teeth instead of peeking out as you do in English ).
