Look at Tom and Brian when gold went to $2400 if you didn’t call em to hold all gold was sent to the melters too. No one wants to risk holding that bag. Granted I’m sure they all kick themselves when it goes to 2700 but that’s a hell of a gamble for a small shop to take. Lotta fear in all time highs 🥳

Yes once it hits 40 ish / 40 + It’ll be the same again I’m already seeing it with gold now. Graded low mintage coins MS 70 grades going for spot prices .. Silver will be the same. Baring some CC Morgan’s or early PCGS Rattlers , everything will get smelted …

@@AL95621 no I don’t think they’d do that again. 👀 graded stuff is gonna get torn out the pack and melted?

The only silver that I buy nowadays is 1970's one oz art bars. USSC, Madison, Death Valley, Silvertowne, etc etc. The hunt for certain art bars is exciting and highly additive. There were thousands of different ones made back then and in 1980 and beyond a big percentage of them were melted down making these bars very rare.

That Engelhard bar is awesome. If i had one i would not melt it. I would wrap it in silk and place it in a nice antique wooden box as a memory of times gone by. It is not glamorous, but it does exude the aura of history and mystery

I remember when gold was $300 everyone was buying 1/4 oz gold because they thought ppl wouldn’t be able to afford $2500 for a 1 oz gold coin . Lol. People who think like that don’t understand principles of fiat debasement

I bet a lot of constitutional silver went to the refiner during the big run years. (Hunt Brothers or 2011).

And sadly prob a lot of bu unc’s 😢 like the 70’s when any and all was sent off. 😮 they made good money from it granted. I dunno if I’d of done so myself. I’d love to hear a story of someone at the melter keeping the great stuff for self outa their paycheck, and not melting it down. We’re there key date coins even in the 70’s? I’d imagine some must have tried to sort through for that at least. Unless they weren’t figured yet. How many 100k$ coins today got melted 🥺

I think 10 oz is a sweet spot. Pretty low premiums when you buy yet still easy to sell for close to spot.

I have never felt the desire to put 100 ounce bars in the stack. In the times I had the cash for 100 ounces of cheap silver I just got Philharmonics, or Buffalo rounds or 10 ounce bars, or 1 ounce generic bars. Not that there is anything wrong with a big bar - It just never appealed to me that much.

100 oz bars are great. However, people love to pay premiums on stuff. They were paying the same for most silver when it spiked. Except for 90%. They got less for it. Due to it all went to the refiner.

It’s probably worth it to have some eagles in the event you’re dealing with someone who won’t have it any other way. Otherwise, I do not see those kinds of premiums as justifiable for common bullion. Anything I would hypothetically have (this is not evidence of possession G-persons of the future) would be lower premium, preferably easily verifiable stuff. On those imaginary days I’m willing to spend more on premiums, the aim would be for things with some collectibility; though, with elevated spot prices that strategy would probably be on hold. I’d think smaller units would be preferred, yet not worth getting into high premium spaces for, and once those items are owned then it totally makes sense to have stuff that one knows is going in someone’s crucible.

I lived through the gold pumps of 2008-2010 and silver obviously as well. When it’s crazy High they pay you for the % of metal it contains and goes straight to the refinery’s . Will always be the same scenario, so all you “ low mintage “ slabbed graded stackers I’d be looking for an opportunity to move all that plastic you paid a premium for if you can get out at even or any ROI I highly recommend that. I remember vividly the NCG , PCGS plastic scraps left in bins after leaving the coin shops. I remember old lady’s bringing in buckets 🪣 of Morgan’s and needed help carrying them inside ….

100 oz and 1000oz... basis of my stacking! I stacked by the cheapest and higher weight! No intention to sell till $50 and beyond. What is higher can go higher... maybe silver will be $100 this time of the era. Nobody knows. neither do I. So if you don't need the money, just keep it...not unless you found another better play, once u are out of precious metals!

Looks like California to me: Palm trees and hills. If Palms and flat, it is usually Florida; if Palms and hills, it is usually California. I speak as a Californian with Palms on my own hillside homestead. Also he said the clouds would "burn off later" and that is what we Californians say, when we live in the Coast Range. I see California Pepper Trees (introduced from Peru to San Luis Rey, California, in 1830, and now found over most of the state in USDA zones 9-11). Those place him anywhere from San Rafael to San Diego, but i see no Redwood trees (I have those among my Palms), and i do see Pines, so i place him south of me. I am not trying to doxx him -- just doing what we old movie buffs do -- identifying location shots from topographic and botanical clues.
