BS! BN was nearly twice the size of Santa Fe and coal was booming before that ill fated merger. And grain, IM, etc. Maybe BNSF no longer needs 5000 locomotives?! Those SD70MACs are nearly 30 years old and wore out with millions of miles on them.

That’s a fairy tale Santa Fe railroaders tell themselves to help them cope with losing their railroad. FACT, Santa Fe declared bankruptcy only a few years before the merger. FACT, BN was raking in record profits at the time due to the coal boom. BNSF went down hill once the remainder of the BN managers either retired or were fired. Now we play second fiddle to the Santa Fe and their continued mismanagement from 30 years ago
