I rarely feel hungry anymore and am probably in the over dieting/restricting category regarding why my hunger signals are messed up. I know that some recovering anorexics suddenly experience "extreme hunger" weeks into their recovery as their body finally comes back to life from at least SOME food coming in.

This is very interesting! I am a grad student with ADHD, and I regularly miss meals unintentionally. I suspect it's a combo of reasons 3, 4, and 5. Emotional overwhelm is a pretty constant issue. I'm always scheduled past what I should be, and my ADHD meds also suppress my appetite. Add to that the fact that people with ADHD (including myself) often have issues with interoception (awareness of body signals/cues like hunger, thirst, pain/discomfort, sleepiness, etc) and it's a wonder I manage to actually eat lunch as often as I do! I have wondered whether "intuitive eating" was even a possibility for me. So often I don't even realize I'm hungry until I'm so far past hungry that I turn into a sobbing mess, so hungry that I feel like eating even a little will make me throw up. It's been frustrating.

I feel like at different points- I've hit on most of them. I probably do the binge/restrict mess the most, but also just eating because it tastes good, filling in loneliness, and then sometimes just being busy- I used to use getting really busy as a way to avoid eating to help restrict. I signed up and told someone else about it.

Hello Colleen I miss your training my husband had a horrible accident and was it the hosp for 7 weeks and had two brain surgery.

I've had long covid since 2021, my hunger cues are just now getting really messed up. If I eat, no matter how much protein and nutrients I eat, I'm still just as hungry or hungrier than before. Idk how to fix my hunger cues in this situation honestly.

i have a question after anorexia for 14 years- i am now in in normal weigt but overexersised and restrictet longtime with much stress.... i made longt time fasting and 18 h no food and than eat2300 kcal. i heared about starvation and extremhunger. i dont know what to follow. what would you do after this time? dr.nicola rinaldi recommends at least 2500 kcal --- i always avoided this. and " made steps" becausei was not sportive and tried to earn my food. its since 17th birtday, ,,,,hunger is realhigh but mystomach aches often and i want to avoid certain issues.
