Bonnies Bakery and Hungry Lamu are somewhat similar, they both start out sweet, innocent, and cartoony. Then they suddenly turn into 3D horror stories with a terrible secret behind the cute start. Hello! Here are a few of my main theories surrounding Lamu: -Due to their human-like face, it's theorized that Lamu isn't a llama at all, but rather a person in a llama costume. -It's also possible that Lamu is a Jarjacha - a creature in Peruvian folklore that's cursed to turn into a distorted llama or alpaca with a human face at night. -It's unknown whether or not Lamu is aware that they're eating people or if they really believe that their prey is fruit.

Honestly, I think Lamu is supposed to be a jarjacha. I mean, they only eat humans, more specifically their heads, and they pretty much look like Lamu. Not only that, just like Lamu, they deal with an insatiable hunger. I think the whole cartoon world and voice might be Lamu's coping mechanism so he doesn't feel guilt with what he is doing

I like the fact that you can see a player hiding behind a tree in the llama’s view, but you can’t do anything with the player. Than in the player’s point of view, he was behind a tree when we first see them, right where the player in llama’s pov was. I like the small detail that the game added, and just want to add that in the comments, because it’s such an interesting and cool detail!

I'm Peruvian, and after playing the game, I'm pretty sure Lamu is a jarjacha. The jarjacha is a very old legend supposedly created by the Spanish in colonial times so that the indigenous people would not commit incest, which was widely practiced by families long before the conquest of the Tahuantinsuyo empire. If you commit an incestuous relationship, you become a llama with a human face with the possibility of having up to three heads with the ability of psychotic powers such as hypnosis to make it easier to catch its victims. He has a thirst for meat, specifically human heads which are his favorite part. It appears in the dark of the night in search of prey, so it is very dangerous to be alone and you must run as fast as possible so that it does not find you since hiding is useless. If you are going to do tourism in very remote rural towns in Peru, it is likely that they will tell you about this legend and warn you of its dangers. The jarjacha of this game is interesting because she suffers from schizophrenia, that explains why the narrator tells her what to do as if she were an internal voice and sees things that are not like the dog that is a banana, people are fruits, the night it is the day for him. Very interesting and fascinating folklore and mythology of this type of beings.

Lamu's head, face, and facial structure are all reminiscent of the people's heads and faces in Night of the Consumers, so I thought that this game was made by the same guy for a moment. This was definitely an interesting game, using that twist that I always love - taking something cute and innocent and then twisting it into something dark and disturbing. I never thought there'd be a horror game about a llama with a human face that eats the heads of people, but here we are. ^^;

My theory: the “narrator” is actually a demonic entity, but one that’s not as powerful as the others, and it’s a struggle to posses most things. Yet, it was able to find a loophole by making it so all the lama, or in this case, Lamu, sees is just a harmless cartoonish life. So Lamu is just a possessed lama, that started to evolve human-like eyes and mouth to hunt its prey more effectively. Good vid tho

Another possibility is that Lamu may be some kind of top-secret laboratory experiment (or like an SCP) that either escaped or was confined strictly to the Lamu Forest Park area, which would explain why he couldn't leave the forest boundaries. It might also make sense as to why the "authorities" had decided to withhold information of details about the killer after it was apprehended, and they only assured the public that it would no longer cause any harm to any citizens. It's possible that maybe the government trying to keep their dangerous experiment/asset under wraps or something? Why else would they refuse to give any information regarding who/what was responsible for all of the known mass-murders that happened within the infamous Lamu Forest Park?

I don’t know if there’s a specific type of genre figured out for games like Bonnie’s Bakery and Hungry Lamu yet, but I think it’s a really interesting idea. Starting off with a cutesy 2D Game that is secretly hiding a dark, 3D horror story it’s such an original idea in my opinion. I’ve been calling it “2 to 3 indie horror” in my head as an idea for a name for this type of genre of game, but I’m sure there is a much better name we could come up with. BTW, loving these story explain videos about these small, yet super interesting games. 👍💞

my idea for a name could be "SUDDEN CHANGE", but my concept is a bit different, as it just straight up throws away the "2D to 3D switch" part of your concept. "Andy's apple farm" (and it's younger brother "Rabbit Knight") is the best (and possibly the most iconic) exemple out there. as the main game is trying to be light hearted and friendly (or at least, most of the times), but the story that can be unlocked is deffinitly a trip down horror and insanity. other exemples include "Amenda the adventurer" (mainly at episode 3 and the secret tapes) and "Mr. Tomatos". superhorrorbro (or mike, as he calls himself) already made a video on all 3 (or 4) of these games already in the past.

The "cherries" could have been nightshade berries. In certain amounts, they don't kill, but they can cause hallucinations. Lamu just ate more than what is acceptable for us because his physical makeup is simply different. Who knows, he has been doing that for quite some time already that his body got accustomed to the poison.

I trully enjoyed watching. 😊 Love when you share your theories 🙌 I have my theory, based on the peruvian myth it might be based on, sorry this is gonna be long: I read that in some peruvian myths, creatures with human faces and llama bodies were originally humans who got transformed in such hideous creatures after commiting the taboo act of incest. I suspect Lamu, in case of being this supernatural entity, was born from an incestuous couple that was transformed into these creatures, which might result in Lamu being born with a mental disability. This also caused it to be born with the same form as it's incestuous parents. In such myths I read this transformation is a cause of shame, which might lead to Lamu's parents (or just it's mother maybe) to hide in the cave where she gave birth to Lamu, where it grew up isolated and hiding from humans. Chances are she named Lamu after the forest they live in. This disability caused its mother to treat Lamu as a kid, wich might lead to the llama's childish attitude and unrealistic view of the world. At some point Lamu's mother dies, maybe of old age, which makes Lamu's mental health get worse at the point it can't see the world as how it is, maybe as a way to cope with this loss and it's current loneliness, so instead it watches everything in a happy and colorful way to evade the reality that it is a lonely isolated creature stuck in the woods all by itself. I suspect the narrator is actually Lamu's mental replacement of her voice and advice (I suspect this because in a moment the narrator warns Lamu to not go to far from the woods or it might get lost, a concern a parent would have) After Lamu loses its mother is when the killings become more common and brutal in the woods, but I suspect these were happening before that, as its mother had to feed her hungry kid somehow and she had to eat too, which made the Lamu forest an infamous place for visitors and it got worst when Lamu was on its own. Maybe Lamu's mom was more careful than her kid. I think the reason Lamu was easy to kill by the surviving protagonist and wasn't killed before it was because its mother wasn't there to warn it about the danger. Lamu had no control on its actions and died the way it did, withouth understanding a car could kill it. Also I suspect that withouth its mother's advice, Lamu, due to its warped view of reality, couldn't spot the difference from what's edible and what isn't which might explain why it only ate the heads of it's victims and let the bodies behind while still feeling hungry. The dog wasn't fully eaten either. Without his mother to feed it, Lamu started to get hungry and hungry.

I agree, the costume theory doesn't fit to much, as Lamu's body doesn't look nothing like a human in a costume as we can't see neither hands or feet and the legs don't look like those of a human standing in four, at some point Lamu should have stand in two feet like a human when chasing the last survivor, but we never see it doing that. It would also explain why the people in charge of the park didn't want to give further explanation about the killer, they knew all along there were violent non human creatures roaming the park, yet they allowed them to live there, maybe because they knew they were the result of divine actions (if the people in charge were believers of this legends) or because they treated them as unique animals that belonged in the forest. If they treated them as legendary creatures, then that would mean they let them eat human flesh from time to time. The people from the park knew about these killings and did nothing to stop Lamu and its mother and only acted when Lamu, due to its mental dissability and because this time it didn't have its mother's help, let a sole survivor scape and got it killed it in the process. (Lamu's mother might not let survivors in order to stay hidden with her kid) Also it doesn't explain why it can teleport from a place to another and managed to eat three human heads whole withouth leaving traces of them, something humans can't do. The creepy thing would be that, if the game is based on this legend, then there are more creatures like lamu roaming in the universe of this game. That would be certainly be even more traumatic for the protagonist who survived :S

The creature in question is called a Jarjacha, and this is probably my favorite theory about this game. Lamu's behaviors and appearance match a Jarjacha a little to closely for it just to be a coincidence imo. And I like the theory that Lamu is a child born of an incestuous relationship rather than being the sinner. Your theory holds up quite well!

I stumbled across a cave and upon entering it, it had hundreds of human skulls covered with blood and childrens story books about Lamu and it had some major lore pieces and story to be discovered only till I tried to venture deeper in the cave and get jumpscared to death by Lamu

What if it's not even about demonic possession, but rather the serial killer reliving a moment before it was captured and maybe put in some asylum or similar structure, and this is their distorted perception of the world, switching between a happy place with the cartoon style, and growing more deranged the moment after with the 3D graphics. My theory: Lamu and the narrator might be working together and that first part is what Lamu sees but the next part is actually the reality so Lamu sees the poor dog as a banana and the narrator things the dog is saying words but the reality is the dog just wondered away from the campsite and Lamu sees the 3 adults as people with heads as fruits and Lamu hears things they didn’t say and they weren’t playing a game they ran away in fear. Now that there's an update we can know more about lamu. On the humans perspective you can now enter lamu's cave and you find a kids book with creepy doodles on it and you find a piece of a newspaper that says about a man experimenting on humans and turning them half animal, and one of the people he tested on was a boy(probably his son) as you see drawings of his parents and his dad has red doodles on it that says"all your fault"

Hey mike, i suggest you could try out a game called omori. It has a bit of horror here and there but i personally love the story,music,art and characters. I highly suggest you try this game out since the game creators recently released a dlc(?) in the console with new things that arent in the original.

Considering how Omori’s been out for quite some time, doesn’t fit the exact bill of the usual horror covered on the channel, aswell as it not being super indie anymore , I personally don’t think he’ll cover it. There’s also the fact that there’s no need for him to theory about the game, as the lore behind it is outright told to you throughout playing, as he is often having to theorize on the game after the explanation

I sort of feel bad for lamu in a way if THAT'S how he sees the world. The cartoony fruits are friends to him, but also food. And so if this IS how he sees the world, he may not know the harm he is truly causing. . . So maybe it was best to run it over. Theory(s): Lamu is a lost spirit of a cannibalistic maniac who loved lambs. They died in this forest, and have gone mad and saddened by the fact they can never leave, their soul confined to the forest to rot. Wanting SOMETHING. ANYTHING. Their mind made them start hallucinating a happy go lucky world. Seeing people as fruits, being a lama that "Can't eat meat." Second theory. . . Well... They're literally just some insane lama who's only motive is to kill, or be killed.. Sooo..

My theory is that Lamu is you let me explain when you play as Lamu you see the world in the Narrators eyes your eyes the way you want it to be seen the reason your not at the camp is because you already know about Lamu your hiding from yourself you suffer from identity crisis Lamu is your other self because how would a Lama know how to wield an Axe and cut down a tree with it how would they know to burn down a bush with fire they don’t but you do in the news paper they show all the names of the dead campers except yours why would they show everyone else’s names but not yours because your the killer we see your name twice in the paper your full name and your first name I want to look at the first name despite being blacked out you can still read the captions and the captions behind the font seem to be 4 letters L A M U but if you re word the name you can get MAUL your name is Maul now let’s talk about the endings ending 1 is when Lamu eats you Lamu is now taken over your brain you will now and forever be a killer ending 2 is when you kill Lamu you are now free but at the cost of your own life the narrator is you trying to make everything better than it really is unable to face reality you made Lamu to cope with your problems but it didn’t work instead you created something that kills people it’s the reason the dog didn’t run away when it saw you it trusted you and when you killed it your friends saw and got scared they ran away only for you to end up killing them but heys that’s just a theory and not game theory as I’m not the channel owner

I find it a bit of an odd choice to make the good/lore ending the easier one to get, or possibly even what a new player will think is the only ending by simply not finding the car. Then what's locked behind the extra step is the comparatively underwhelming and unrevealing bad ending, which kind of messes with the arc of the game imo? Though I suppose you could argue the opposite, that the attitude of leaving no event untriggered is more in line with player intuition so deliberately abstaining *is* only the second thing they'll do, I'm not quite sure...
