Qiaho Liu When I say more casual I mean that Sakurai tried to make Brawl appeal to casual players, while he tried to make smash 4 a balance of both. If Sakurai decided to lean more on the casual side for Smash 5, there might be a part of the Smash 4 community that is unwilling to switch to the other game.

Hungrybox, I've been a longtime fan and this really spoke to me. I've been following melee and smash 4 closely for the past 9 months and found out recently that xanadu takes place 20 minutes from my house. I decided that I would play a practice set and then realized i was going against VGBC Logic. I only put 55% on him after he punishes my wiffed rest. As I stood up, I immediately got a text from my friend that said "lol dude you got wrecked." Apparently, the stream was running and i got bodied on stream with all of my friends watching my silly puff. In tournament, I went 0-2 short and sweet. That's how my first tournament ever went. :/ My parents think its really silly that I spend my weekend glued to my laptop watching grown men play video games, so they thought me getting destroyed would finally disuade me from playing smash. That didn't happen, in fact the reverse happened. I don't have the money for a wii u, so all I have at home was a wii, brawl, and a love of the game (super smash bros, not necessarily brawl). I have no one to practice against at home so im either in training mode, playing against cpus or bugging my friends from school to drive the hour to my house so that we can play. However, success isn't too important to me. Even if I do just remain a spectator for the rest of my life, I am happy to be a part of this awesome community and follow it through the ups and downs. But, that doesn't mean Imma keep trying my hardest to break new tech and start placing or from getting more involved.

So basically, Melee wasn't even supposed to be a featured game at EVO 2013. What they did instead was, for the 9th and final game, the organizers decided to let the people decide. When the Melee community went full force, the EVO staff got suspicious of God-Knows-What, so they made it so the community of the game that can raise the most money for breast cancer research/awareness would get their game into that 9th spot. Melee came out on top as the 9th game, as they raised the highest amount of over 90K (around 95K). That was the "cure" for Melee on its deathbed, as without it, the community probably would've slowly died out from that point, if we didn't get that spot

Hungrybox is very wise. Melee can't be your life, if it is you'll only come to dead ends. Pursue your true passions first (unless it's melee.) Let melee be a hobby, it's all for sport and good fun and if you win, you win. Getting good is not the most important thing. I am an all or nothing thinker so I decided that I shouldn't try to be the best player. I just want to be known in the community, and doesn't everyone. I think that a lot of people in this community are way too focused on being the greatest because they don't know what else to do in life. That's negative, causes negative vibes. I don't want to be the greatest because I just don't see myself supporting a wife and kids with this hobby, unless I'm the best like mango or something, but that's a lot of hard work. Yo u have to have the right mindset for that. I truly believe that is something you are born with. Sure, it can be developed, but do the positives outweigh the negatives. That is something everyone who wants to be serious with this game should ask themselves.
