I had to do the same thing when I beat a fairly decent Marth player with Little Mac in Smash 4 years ago on Final Destination. He made me work for every inch of that win, which made it much more satisfying when I finally pulled it off.

As a Mac main I’ve been saying for years, there is NO WAY he is bottom 2. Is he still pretty bad? Yes. But in no world is he bottom 2. Has a better recovery than dr Mario or Belmonts. Tier lists are not always descriptive of meta, but prescriptive. Tier lists reinforce competitive behaviors and perceptions, thereby influencing character results. When an upset like this happens, it's going to affect competitive behaviors; more people will think Mac is viable, put time into labbing the character, and suddenly more results pop up within brackets. Not because the character is suddenly better (we aren't getting patches anymore) but *strictly* speaking from statistics, the more players represent a character, the more results that character will have. It's happening in Melee with characters like Donkey Kong and Roy, too. I think that's where the life in competitive games come from-- how beautiful these games are!

Mac is great at destroying at a low level but it gets harder as people figure out how to play against him. Mac has garbage grab and aerial game leaving him with ground only as a big strength. That kind of skew can be hard to work with.

I used to hate Tarakotori's Mac. And not without good reason. He won't Nair boost his up B so he'll die in situations where most Macs nowadays wouldn't cuz we found his horizontal recovery can go further like 3 years ago. He won't use his frame one heavy armor option so he'll get laddered to the top at mid percent by the likes of Bayo and Greninja when Mac can tank all of that on frame 1. And worst of all his anti-camping strategy for platforms is to dash back and forth on the ground and hope the other player gets bored and comes down. Man's afraid of the platforms when Dair jab locks exist and never quite uses them to his advantage. However, all that being said? I severely underestimated his patience and punish game. He may not be the most technical Mac I've ever seen, but that does not matter at all when you have that strong of a neutral game. Not to mention he's the best at using KO punch. TL;DR I didn't understand bro's game. Good shit
