My friend plays KRool kinda like this, obviously not tournament winning level, but the general idea that K-Rool is more of a trapper/setup character and he destroys us with it. When I watch other K-Rools try to play him in neutral or hyper aggressive, its like dude, that's not where his strengths are. It's crown / cannonball setups, its tech chases, stop trying to win neutral with nair spam and put your slow floaty projectiles out there constantly to make people dance around them because your punish game is insanely strong if they don't maneuver perfectly. I've been saying for years that K-Rool isn't nearly as bad as tier-lists make him out to be because no one is playing him correctly at a top level. It's about feeling like you can't go anywhere because there's a god damn crown or slow ass cannon ball where you'd rather be and a K-Rool sharking behind them.

K rool’s projectiles are obviously BETTER neutral tools than his aerials but they’re not necessarily strong. Discounting that any character with a usable reflector nullifies that gameplan, they are incredibly committal and K rool doesn’t really have the toolkit to punish rushdowns or other mobile characters that can easily avoid them. Zomba did not play well around projectiles in this set imo

King k rool can sit safely in the middle inknow there are tons of characters I have zero issues facing at all. I main king k rool if he so bad he wouldn't have won a tournament. Which he tends to do from time to time it takes an actual good main of K rool to put him on top but when you face one its never an easy you win instantly. K rool has struggling match ups be he doesn't struggle against them as hard as most the cast does.

This is why Ultimate is the most balanced Smash game. Bruho won a tournament with K. Rool (bottom 3 btw) against one of the best players in the world playing a character as broken as ROB. Bottom 3 in Ultimate means something VERY different than Bottom 3 in any other Smash game imo.

People saying K Rool is bad: Armor, a recovery that only certain characters can really exploit without catching a reversal, hurtbox shifting, 2 different types of projectiles that honestly could frame trap a lot more off stage, some relatively fast options that kill early, and some solid kill confirms. To say he's bad or worse than someone like Isabelle, Wii Fit, or Megaman for example is wild.

He doesn't have a good recovery, it's very easy to exploit. He's a big body so gets combod easier, a lot of his moves are too laggy and armor has multiple blind spots that are easy to exploit. His good moves have too much startup and are very easy to predict because of his mediocre air speed. This tournament was a matchup check, nothing more
