I know the song name is "Despair" but i hear some triumphant in it, almost an hero theme for Emil, almost celebranting Emil's strength and resilience after all the years of endless and lonely battle In the end of the quest Emil remembers his friends and can have some peace and be himself again, and we, the characters and us as players as well, are friends of Emils and are helping then to fight his trauma and recover his personality I know this is very optimistic for Nier, but is the way i feel when i though about the quest

A little late maybe but that might because there are 2 songs for Emil (if I am not mistaken that is) plus a mission called Emil's determination. That most likely is why you hear triumphant tones on it since this song not only captures his sadness but also his will to not let the world he saved with his friend to be destroyed. 1. Well in this instance it isn't a real shade, more like a recreation of one made by machine network (which also seems to be recreations of original network via Seed of Destruction) made by pulling whatever data about shades remained after the events of Replicant, not to mention it also exists only in digital dimension of the Network and not in physical world. So I'd say killing this particular shade isn't any worse than killing the Red Girl Yes, I know I'm replying to 6 months old comment

Once upon a time, my love for the nier series was born in this raid... After I completed automata, I had a hard time starting nier replicant because of the emotions that overwhelmed me and I put it off for a long time. And now that I'm in the second half of the replicant game, I feel like something terrible is coming at the end and I'm just bursting with sadness. I never cease to like this arrangement of the composition.

Emil could also be considered fortunate because he is immune to the WCS virus. NieR teaches us about meaninglessness and nihilism.

there are not "nonsense sounds" per se these _are_ actual lyrics, and they probably have meaning too, but no one except Emi Evans can confirm it (the singer from NieR who made up the "chaos language")
