I subscribed to her just last week and watched all of her videos since she started carnivore. I figured it wasn't a lot of effort on my part and if it helps prove her wrong about people only watching her muckbang content then it's worth it. I'm on a weight loss/fitness journey myself although I'm down 18lbs of the 40lbs I need to lose. So I am happy to see her success and to support her struggles.

Not a fan of overly restrictive diets in terms of variety, but desperate times call for desperate measures. I'm glad she is losing weight, and I'm hoping this method or whatever method works for her and can be smoothly transitioned into something more balanced and maintainable down the line, but for now , her getting out of the danger zone is the priority. I really hope she succeeds, she seems like a kind person

My thoughts exactly. I’m not a fan of extreme diets but drastic times call for drastic measures after she had congestive heart failure and being in the hospital. She has to get that weight off asap. Hopefully after she’s at a safer weight she can transition to a balance diet that will help slower healthier weight loss.

Weight loss achieved with restrictive diets almost invariably leads to gaining all the weight back. People tend to think that they will lose the weight quickly and then eat "normally" to maintain. It just doesn't work like that unfortunately.
@Jane-yg3vz

Carnivore isn't a diet, unless you're using it as an elimination diet, which I think everyone should do once to find out what food sensitivities they have. It's meant to be a permanent way of eating. It's the least restrictive way of eating that I've ever had. When you have a carb addiction, moderation DOES NOT work. I eat what I crave when I'm hungry and eat as much as I want. I eat Olympian amounts of calories a day and all my mental and physical ailments have disappeared. The best decision I've ever made and I'll never go back to the shitty life I was living before I healed myself with meat.
@Jabberwocky869
@Jabberwocky869 Жыл бұрын
@@Jane-yg3vzwow, you comment is just packed with false information. Any way of eating is a "diet". Carnivore diet is a restrictive diet (or way of eating), because it restricts an entire food group. Nobody should be wildly attempting elimination diets without medical indication. Your personal experience and feelings don't magically extrapolate themselves onto entire population. Just because something works for you, doesn't mean it won't be harmful for general population. I, personally, don't like meat, I don't like how it tastes, it's texture and how heavy it makes my stomach feel. Doesn't mean everyone should restrict eating meat, because I don't like it.
@Jane-yg3vz
@Jane-yg3vz Жыл бұрын
@@Jabberwocky869 "Diet" is a word that has two different meanings. I was differentiating between the two because carnivore is not the same as weight watchers, which is only meant to be done temporarily. You knew very well what I meant. Any diet someone follows is restrictive, just like yours, that doesn't include meat. People restrict sugar, fat, vegetables, meat, gluten, salt, dairy, etc. Idk why you would assume a carnivore diet, which humans thrived on for thousands of years, is more restrictive or unhealthy than your plant based diet, which no human society has ever survived on, let alone thrived on. How many people does it take to make enough of a sample size to see if a way of eating is beneficial? There are thousands, maybe even tens of thousands of people who are carnivore and every one of them has stories of how eating this way has eliminated symptoms from autoimmune disorders, eating disorders, mental illness, heart disease, and is reversing age related diseases like high blood pressure and dementia. There are optometrists, fertility doctors, heart specialists, and MDs prescribing this way of eating to heal their patients, instead of the typical diet of pills and Ensure. There are people who have been eating this way for decades. Kelly Hogan had two pregnancies and her children have only ever been carnivore. They're not dying of malnutrition like we see with vegan children. Humans wouldn't exist if an all meat diet couldn't sustain us and keep us healthy enough to reproduce. We don't need studies to prove what history has already shown us.

I love the sensitivity and empathy that is shown in this channel. Such a refreshing change! And I can relate very strongly to Candy’s description of food as an addiction. I’ve been in recovery from substance abuse for 15 months but am still struggling hard with bulimia and have been for quite a few years. I’m very slim but the only difference between me and an overweight person is my reliance on damaging and self-destructive purging behaviours. Abstinence from substances is so clear cut, for me it’s a thousand times easier than controlling my ED where the lines are so blurred. Even though many people focus on weight loss as a sign of overcoming food addiction, I just wanted to add that there are many people struggling with the same dangerous addictive behaviours very secretly; every time I’m complimented on my ‘discipline’, ‘fitness’ or ‘healthy physique’ it tears me up inside 😔 Candy is so brave for her honesty and frankness, and I hope that her and anyone else struggling with these issues can find the inner peace and self-acceptance we all deserve ❤️

I first tried the Carnivore way of eating 2/1/23. I've been over 200lbs for more than 36 years. I've done every diet under the sun. The Carnivore difference is that with complete restriction from ALL CARBOHYDRATES changes your blood sugar to such an extent that you ONLY eat out of true hunger, and fasting/intermittent fasting is easy. I currently weigh 183.1lbs and I'm losing. I'm an addict too... I'm a carboholic! You are right ObesetoBeast, it is extreme "keto", that's why its actually therapeutic! Getting your body in a ketogenic state is far more than a "diet" because it helps mental health, as well as a myriad of other conditions such as epilepsy, chronic inflammatory diseases like arthritis, diabetes. I see carnivore as one level of eating with water fasting only more strict. After reducing my diet to real food only focused first on beef/pork/chicken/fish/eggs, then adding low glycemic veggies, fruit, plain greek yogurt. Each meal is a choice, and now that I know how to fast safely is amazing. Even during a very stressful time when I would be gaining weight, now I have the skills to reign a binge back in when I'm struggling. The magic happens after you are very strictly keeping very low or no carb (carnivore) for three days or so. I have developed unprecedented self-control through fasting and carnivore. Jus sayin ;) Dr. Jason Fung, Dr. Ken Berry... and so many others

I think it’s ok (in general) to do a specific type of eating style for short periods, as a considered, educated part of a longer-term health plan. Restrictive diets are not optimal as long-term, sustained ways-of-life, as they all eventually lead to some kind of imbalance (the exceptions being those on specific medical advice). But they can be very useful. That said, trying things without a quality mentor, going here and there, and trying to educate yourself from scratch, is often a recipe for failure (although some people do luck out and make their goals, it’s just their time somehow).

I struggled with alcohol for years. The only way I can be happy and free is to abstain from it entirely. Moderation is always, always a disaster. And like you point out, every time I’d get fed up and “quit” drinking and then fall off the wagon, I believed in myself less the next time I wanted to try stopping. I empathize with Candy because you can’t abstain from food like you can alcohol. so you have to find a way to manage and still obviously eat.

I can agree with the reasons Candy is trying carnivore. I actually switched to more of a carnivore trend from keto yesterday because I was stalling and my ketones were lower than before and I couldn't figure out why. @AzaleaBee
@AzaleaBee Жыл бұрын
When you said your ketones were lower than before how much lower, and measured by which method? Our bodies become more efficient at making and using ketones which is why after being on a ketogenic diet ketones are usually detected in smaller amounts particularly in our urine, but that does not mean that our bodies are not producing enough for continued weight loss and other measurements of metabolic health. Carnivore .. strict carnivore.. works for many reasons, in particular it gives many of the benefits of extended fasting without actually doing extended fasts.

Like a vegan, i can't stop talking about what helped me: not a super restrictive diet or a program - i combined calory counting with intermitted fasting. For 20 years, i always ate something. Even in the middle of the night, i often got up after 2 or 3 hours of sleep and ate something (hand full of chips, some bread, chocolate..). The only reason why i never went over 315 pounds, was drinking only water or diet coke and eating high volume low calory density food during many normal meals. What i try to say: not eating for 16-24 hours was unimaginable for me. But i downloaded a stupid app, ate, started the timer and that was enough to challenge me. Whenever i wanted to go to the fridge, i thought about the timer and stopped. Instead i drank diet coke (a lot, that's a problem for future-me) and the hunger disappeared in minutes. And i've set a calory limit in my other app of 1400 and logged everything in detail for a while and i tried to stay within that boundary (but often i went over maybe a 100 and that's fine too). That allowed me to eat whatever i wanted. I did not say goodbye to cake or bread or chocolate or anything, but i logged it. If i was in cake mood, i fasted 22 hours instead of 16 and ate only a whole Cheesecake (of a size in the ballpark of 1400 calories) and than some boring crispbread with salami to counter the sweet a bit and started my timer again. Next day i usually ate more healthy and a bit more distributed over the day. And sometimes, i had a cheat day with friends where i ate 2000-2500 calories (did not count those days). If you just remove the calories from drinks and from snacks, it's so easy to lose weight and fasting with a free app makes it easer to not betray yourself. If you want something really bad, you just have to wait a couple more hours - for some reason that made it so much easier for me and often the desire was gone once the time was up, but many times not and then i planned my budget around it. I lost the first 70 pounds without a single minute of exercise over a year. And from there i was fit enough to ride my bike again and walk/run, so i started to increase my budget and exercised more frequently, but i lost weight slower (because lower weight = lower overall calory need (BMR)). But i could have continued forever that way because i ate everything, just not on the same day. Interestingly enough, your body gets really good at working without any energy intake and the hunger disappears after a while. I was on my bike today spending 1500 calories after 12 hours of fasting and then fasted 6 more hours and it does not bother me at all, i don't get hungry, i have energy, i could probably fast for days and still use my bike. I don't count anymore and have more cheat days where i fast only 10 hours maybe, but i weight myself weekly religiously and if my weight goes over my limit again (e.g. 5-10 pounds over my target weight), i go into strict mode again and lose the weight straight away instead of waiting till it's 120 pounds to lose. But usually it's enough to just fast a day with only one big meal after a day at the Chinese restaurant buffet etc to balance it out. Intermittent fasting was the best tool to control my weight i ever found. Long text and it's not for everybody, but maybe somebody in the same situation gives it a try and it helps. As much as i hate the "nature" talking points, our bodies are made for this type of eating and it does not cost anything, it actually saves a lot of money.

I want her to succeed so bad. I understand her mindset when it comes to starting out carnivore. I'm 45 turning 46 at the end of this month and women need fewer calories as we get older like a lot fewer as well as more magnesium to help with cortisol levels. I lost close to 200lbs when I turned 40 regained some of the weight when perimenopause hit and I'm working on losing the extra weight I put back on now. Starting out carnivore is likely away to train herself to eat right. It's like a slow learning of disciplined eating. I myself do a keto diet because I have epilepsy and my body doesn't handle carbs or gluten well. I also noticed that on keto my back pain and joint pain is greatly reduced. I hope she loses the weight and I hope she's able to get health insurance again.

Keto is not as satiating as carnivore (but still much better than average american diet), i've never struggled with weight and i went keto for 2 months and then carnivore for 18 months so far (still on it) because of severe gut issues, it worked, never going back (i'm actually semi-carnivore 90%/10%) but i did lose weight and that was no intended as i was already thin. I can not stress how healing carnivore diet has been to me (also to my brother).

I have been on Noom for around 5 months and have lost around 30 pounds. It works pretty well, but yeah, only if you keep working on it. I am a very stressed person, and the mental barriers behind weight loss they try to address with psychology. Have no clue if this works for other people, but it's been working alright for me. But yeah, you really could do the same thing for free, it's all about being consistent.

Carnivore won't help this woman. She just needs to STOP eating 10,000+ cals/day! You do that by eating TONS & TONS of energy poor ruffage (translation - veggies/fiber) for the bulk. Then you add in a BALANCED amount of protein, fats & carbs for proper nutrition. But the majority of your meal should not be energy dense foods which leads to overeating due to lack of bulk. At her size, she could still eat an enormous amount of food & still lose weight. It always comes down to bad choices... like her ordering Wendy's 3x per week with extra, EXTRA cheese.

Funnily enough, sustainability is the reason why keto is the only diet plan that allowed me to maintain my weight loss long term. I don’t have the willpower to moderate my calories with simple carbs. If I eat any, I want to eat them all day. No willpower is required when I don’t eat any. I don’t think about food much at all. I’ve kept 100 lbs off for 6 years and don’t plan to ever change my diet. Listening to John, it sounds like my husband and I are in a rare subset of people who find keto sustainable long term, which I’m grateful for. I don’t recommend keto to others because people find it drastic to stop eating starch and sugar for life. It doesn’t feel drastic to me because I do eat fibrous carbs; lots of cruciferous vegetables, nuts, berries, etc. I just leave out the starch and sugar.

I've been following Candy's journey though other channels that follow her and I agree that carnivore isn't a great way to try to support your health I totally get why she felt it was the best chance for her. Every new video I see she's learning to enjoy it more and she's very happy with her success and has made some small mistakes but owned up to it and made corrections immediately. Overall she seems to be really dedicated to her journey and I am cheering for her to be able to make as much ground on her trip as she can. It'd be great to see someone once trapped in the FA space actually come out with a strong personal victory.

I really hope she gets to where she wants to be, but this diet is so restrictive, and it might be hard for her to maintain. She acknowledges that she's addicted to sugar, so it might not be the best idea to go to such an extreme diet. I am saying this from my own experience of doing a similar diet.

i did try noom a few years ago and it actually worked but my results were not sustainable. i dropped 25 to 30 pounds doing it, probably in less than 6 months. i did learn a lot about nutrition and it did somewhat help with my negative thoughts about certain foods. i think where it failed was assigning me a very low calorie intake. it was only 1200 - 1500 calories a day. i learned portion sizes too which helped. i also became more calorie conscious, which for me is a good thing. hopefully she loses the weight and is happy.

I was carnivore for a few years. I still basically am, but I have avocados here and there and sometimes even have days where I eat sweet fruit or coconut butter. Honestly, one of the best decisions I ever made. I was keto before and going full carnivore was just so much easier. I just don't crave food when I'm not hungry. Fasting is incredibly easy. It just completely changed my relationship to eating in a way that's been beneficial for so many different reasons. I hope it works out for her.

We are also mostly carnivore and love it!!! It’s so different than just being on a restrictive diet. I’m never hungry and I intermittent fast mostly because I feel so satisfied for such a long time. @Keyjack2020 The lack of options definitely works to it's benefit for me as well, but it's also just that it removes a lot of factors that keep you craving food for reasons other than lack of calories or macronutrients. I don't ever get bored eating what I eat regularly. It's always satisfying. It doesn't give you a dopamine rush that a lot of hyper palatable foods give you, but it's the same kind of satisfaction I get from drinking cold water on a hot day when I'm thirsty. It definitely feels good, but when I've had enough I don't feel the need to eat anything else. I think variety has its benefits. I occasionally eat other things when I feel like incorporating them, but I still don't feel an itch for them like I did even on keto. I honestly think a lot of it comes from sort of rewiring your hunger signals. Keeping blood glucose and insulin low, but also just removing other things that overstimulate your palate and trigger your appetite. I had 2 cheat days in a row one time eating some sugar cookies and rice crispy treats once and got actual cravings back for a few weeks. Even sweet fruit doesn't make me crave stuff if I only have it once in a while. I think keto adaptation is a big part of the hunger suppression, but I still craved stuff on keto. Especially almond butter. lol It took willpower, whereas with carnivore/animal based I don't *need* willpower. I just know when I need to eat, I enjoy eating, and then I go on with my day. I don't think 100% carnivore is necessary for most people, but it's just so clean and good for your body that I think everyone should try it for at least a month. Give their body a good break from every chemical and phytochemical influence and then slowly reincorporate stuff 1 at a time so they can really feel the difference. It still blows my mind how much what you eat and don't eat can affect how you feel.

@Keyjack2020 when I was pregnant, I constantly worried about where I would get every little bit of vitamin or mineral that I needed for my baby’s growth. I wish I had known how nutritious meat, eggs, organs, butter etc all were while I was pregnant an breastfeeding or even when I was just trying to get pregnant. It’s laughable to look at all the supplements I was taking and now I just eat a small piece of liver every other day.

Had a guy come up to me in Costco a few days ago when I was looking at protein bars and he was telling me all about carnivore. Said you’ll be shitting like hell, feel like shit for a week or two, and then you can just eat as much as you want. I knew it was bullshit. The look on his face when I told him I’d lost over 80lbs so far still eating carbs was priceless. The dude seemed lovely, but misinformed.

PLUS IF YOUR GOAL IS NOT LOSING GO YOU !! you do you!! for me losing is what I need &b want like Candy ,,then also I feel many of her same addiction talks!!! it;s real for some of us..we just gotta work it out!!

Honestly, I know you don’t like WLS much, but I think that for ppl who are this overweight, it’s usually the answer. I feel like she knows how to eat well, she’s open to making changes, she’s just having cravings, which the surgery will help with a lot because it also lowers your appetite at first. She’s seeing it as a mountain like I did and the WLS was the best decision I’ve ever made and I should have taken it before.

I started doing 5hr breaks between meals and eating quite restrictively - but more broad still carbs proteins etc. I find that I don't care about bread and cakes any more I've never had that happen before. I had to eat a bread roll with every meal previously. I loved cake... now i can take it or leave it. I think the body feels more balanced. I hope this works for her but I couldn't just eat one type of food. That's just me.
