The black Barbie doll is gorgeous. I think $35 is a great price. Target in Paramus NJ the display was located in women’s clothing, close to the entrance/customer service area. I did get the BB45 doll. I love her face sculpt and I love her hair, but her hair is a mess. Each strand of hair is soooo thin and it easily tangles and gets frizzy, and I keep on cutting it so it looks neat. It reminds me of the hair on the Barbie Looks Heide - the first redhead in the Looks collection. I ended up buying 3 of these Heide dolls, hoping that I would get a doll that would keep the hard curl. I didn’t want the curl to relax. And now I’m finding myself wanting to buy more of the Anniversary doll in the hopes that I’ll find one with good hair that doesn’t tangle and gets frizzy. STOP! The hair is going to be the same! Aaaagh, sometimes doll collecting is NOT relaxing, especially if you’re a bit of a perfectionist 😑. Thank you for letting me vent. ❤

I completely agree with you in one of these scenarios I used to purchase dolls that I had no significant connection to and it’s a habit a very bad habit I had to break and it ended up and wasting so much money now I only purchased dolls that I know I have some significant connection to.

I think there is an black Barbie on a wheel Chair that has a fro who would be a good match for the anniversary doll…. I bought her for my Cali Girl Christie who ended up not being as dark as the photos/videos I had seen of her…. So I used the basketball doll… and have a spare I wanna use….

No the wheelchair Barbie is a lighter shade. Anniversary is Nubian black. If you want a cheap body that can fit in the dress, I suggest Integrity Poppy Parker Nubian $35 or Looks #10

I loved the 45th anniversary doll but saw her in person and felt let down and Kitty is one of my favorite designers. I love her face but she doesn’t seem like an anniversary doll. So if I find her on sale then maybe. And yeah too similar. My Target ordered Aaliyah finally shipped! Ordered the 16th and just shipped from southern California. Maybe the fire slowed the release a little 🤷‍♀️

Where I live in Australia the shelves are pretty much flooded with Millie Barbies. I have overheard children complaining that they already have that doll and her arms and legs don't even bend to their parents. If Mattel really did the math it's the tonnes of Millies that go on clearance because not even the children want 10 of the same pixelated face, zombie body, Millie Barbie dolls. I wish they would just have shipments of equal representation like MGA did with Rainbow High dolls. It seems like for every 10 Millie's there are only 2 non blondes here. Also It's harder and more expensive to get hold of diverse MTM skintones in Australia unfortunately. I don't think many parents realize how the quality of play is diminished by a lack of doll articulation. At least when I was growing up the Barbie's had click bend knees and bent arms so the could sit and hold things. I wonder how much money Mattel is really saving by mass producing the 5 points of articulation dolls? Hard to believe this is the level of interactive quality children are being offered in 2025. I would have expected MTM bodies to have been the standard by now, the 5 points only articulation dolls should be a thing of the past imo. If Mattel wanted to, they would come up with gorgeous articulated model muse bodies similar to fashion royalty.... that could make everyone happy, if such a thing is possible.

I’m always a step behind or not even in line, because I think the anniversary doll is really beautiful. I only get dolls to look at and so I think she’s so pretty. Her dress is lovely, her face is calm and serene, she’s just beautiful to me. Oh well, it seems like I like dolls that no one else does and maybe that’s a good thing as I’m not taking things from people they like and I don’t and vice versa. It does make me feel weird though, like something is wrong with me. Maybe I don’t look so deeply into what a doll represents in the whole scheme of life, instead of just looking at what a doll means to me and how pleasing it is. The other doll you showed, the “looks“ doll is another doll that I have and really love. She just looks like she’s gonna stomp someone with those boots, and that makes me feel good for her…that she is so tough and can take care of herself. Oh well. @@Farcamp1 nothing is wrong with liking any particular doll, even if everyone else doesn't like it. I think this black barbie is really pretty, but I just don't need to add her to my current collection yet. There are other dolls I want a lot more, so I had to be real with myself. When I started collecting I didn't understand how often we add dolls to our collections just because they are trendy. I now realize if the doll isn't meaningful to me, it's not worth it to get. I will end up selling or giving It away later anyway and I don't want the hassle. She's a very elegant doll, and I'm just going to admire her vicariously through others who post her online.

I understand not keeping the black anniversary doll. She seems kind of underwhelming to me even though objectively there's nothing really wrong with her, just not a must-have. With the Barbie Basics doll I think her sculpt might be Heide because of the nose, but honestly I don't know. Sorry about the baby. It sounds like doll therapy has been a little helpful.

Love Love Love your videos! You and select other content creators have helped me develop resistance to FOMO. The newest Black Barbie doll is beautiful but I will be passing as well. IF I could find the other anniversary one, with the afro, I'd buy her in a heartbeat. I don't know if I'll ever see the Barbie Basics live in stores but if I do, I'll make my purchase then. The reason I say if is because I never saw the Looks dolls anywhere in person. I found that very odd. I'm keeping an eye out for Aaliyah but I have not seen a Black History display in my 3 closest Targets. Same with Midge, if I see her I'll buy her if not I'll be a second Barbie Deluxe on sale and dress my rewind MIdge in the outfit. Sorry for your loss, love and prayers.

I love your video so much! I’m also so sorry to hear that you are going through a child loss… I’m glad that the dolls are giving you some sort of distraction and joy in your life at this tough time. On another note, I cannot agree with you more on the new release of the anniversary Black Barbie. I think that the doll looks half done. I got one for myself as well and her plastic body actually has a lot of marks on it. It looks very rushed. Her hair also seems kind of plain. I wish it was a different hairstyle - even shorter hair would’ve done well. And I also agree with you that she needed some gold jewelry because she looks too plain. So I think I’m gonna return her. I noticed that she’s available online so that tells me there’s a bigger quantity of her. So I might wait for a sale just because I don’t have any of the original Black dolls or none of the anniversary ones because they’re out of my budget range. So I am so glad I am not the only one thinking like that because I totally agree with you! I’m looking forward to your other videos and I think you’re so awesome and so talented and I wish you all the best!

i'm also feeling that the 45th anniversary doll ISN'T IT. i mean, it's a beautiful doll but, it's definitely lacking. The 2020 doll outshines the 2024 version, and that makes absolutely NO sense. And WHY did they use a model muse body?? i'm just over it. i have the original 1979 Black Barbie on the nightstand beside my bed. Big hips, big thighs and ALL. That's more than enough for me. You know what? It would be so cute if they redesigned the Black Barbie doll with the Steffie face. Like, i feel like If they designed the 40th and 45th anniversary dolls as they are, but with a Steffie face, the doll would be so much cooler. Newer facial screenings and all.

Courier deliveries are the worst! Lost a parcel this week because the courier left it on my doorstep in full view of the street. It was the Wakanda Forever Nakia that I saw on one of Gypsie’s shelves. I bought her through a UK market site but she had to be shipped from US - so waited for her and she made it from US to UK with no problems, only to be “dumped” by the courier. Same company that almost trashed my Tribute to Fashion Barbie a couple of months ago.

18:19 curvy petite is what the doll community calls the body type that the Barbie fashionistas with down syndrome have! They are shorter than original barbies and are wider. It would be nice to have a MTM with that body type. Maybe someday? I really like your long videos, and just appreciate how real you are with us. 45th anniversary barbie is pretty but shes not giving enough for me. I would prefer Looks 10 (hopefully i can find her someday at a good price but i doubt it) honestly im a little bummed out that i got into collecting dolls when Mattel decided to discontinue the Looks like haha Im listening to your video while im editing a video for my mom's 50th birthday ☺️

I honestly was going to pass on the 45th Anniversary doll because I felt like she was watered down compared to the 40 th anniversary one. However, when I saw her in person, I was in LOVE. I think she is absolutely gorgeous. I've always wanted a doll in her skin tone! She is definitely the Looks doll twin. I think you should keep her,especially if you don't have the 40th Anniversary one. The 40th Anniversary one was my second Barbie I got as an adult collector and from here on out Im getting every First Black Barbie tribute/reproduction doll

Yea I listened to ya video and you where right. A hour ago I walked in target and looked in BLACK HISTORY MONTH section and nothing. I then asked a person and showed them online and gave item number and they had 3 in the back still in box. Check your stores and ask is the key.

If I didn’t have a problem with my family I’d probably have more dolls or lived in a poverish neighborhood at least some real doll collector friends who could hook me up I’d have more dolls excluding the Aaliyah doll and the black Barbie 45 Anniversary doll they’re just not playable for me I want dolls to play with I admit though seeing these collectors do inspire me but having a difficult family makes it harder for me to collect and put them on shelves plus I’m a multi fan I don’t just collect dolls love your videos as always Gypsie my favorite doll friend from the western atmosphere ❤

I respect your restraint about adding dolls to your collection, I’m so bad about that😅 I did personally really reallyyyyyyyy want the 45th Anniversary Black Barbie homage doll. I didn’t have any of the dolls with the Simone sculpt yet so I was thrilled to get a doll with that sculpt, AND that skin tone, and that textured hair. It sucks that 45th homage is so close to the existing Simone but I’m kinda glad they redid her with the simpler face up and the textured hair. I think her jewelry is really boring though and not a good tribute to the original doll😂 By the way, anyone looking to get her and rebody her on the Barbie Looks Simone- she’s a great match but beware when removing her head. It didn’t want to come off the model muse body and I ended up ripping out the neck peg on accident.😮
