HUNT Episode 1 - Justin's Big Caribou Bull in Alaska - The Experience Project

Welcome to the HUNT film series of The Experience Project. This video series will document the three Alaska hunts we completed in the fall of 2024, for caribou, moose, and mountain goat.
In this first episode, Steve, Mark, Jeff, and Justin leave civilization behind, get dropped off at a riverside landing strip, and begin their 7-day hunt. They have 4 caribou tags to fill and nearly 30 miles of river to navigate with pack rafts before the plane returns to get them at a backcountry airstrip at the end of the week.
On the first full hunt day, they make big moves to chase bulls in the distance and find success - notching the first of their four caribou tags for the trip.

I largely agree, OTHER than the almost expected(in a commercial video) over use of background music. Just out of curiosity I timed it out, of 37 minutes of video, nearly 20 minutes was overdubed with music. SO not needed! I've have much preference every second of that to use the actual sounds experienced while there.

I have a complaint… why the heck did it take you so long to come up with the Experience Project Steve? There are so many hunting videos out there, but this style of video (and I’m only 17 minutes in) is what rises to the top. Great balance of beautiful scenery, showing off cool gear, and pitching each other crap. I feel like I’m hanging with you in camp. Can’t wait for the rest of the videos. Well done guys! Thanks gentlemen. Looking forward to watching this series. Love the podcasts. On another note: I emailed you guys a few months ago now. Did a fly in backpack hunt in NZ with Owen. Was a great trip your backpack what amazing. I have the last of the k3 and Owen has the k4 loved how he had the drink bottle on the hip. I asked if there was a retrofit for k3. Sadly no 😢. However I went back to NZ to the Sika show. Found a NZ company called Twin Needles. Just like you boys they make good gear. I seen a drink bottle that I thought would work on the K3. Took the putt as my backpack was back at home in Australia. Got home and it worked great. Same colour. Haven’t tested it yet, but it seems to work. 👍 I’ll email pictures.

Yes, unguided and public. Most of the cost is transportation/logistics, so that will vary widely based on how you plan the hunt, and how your group splits/shares costs. $2,500-5,000 is a wide but realistic range.

The imagery was great, but as is the case with essentially all "commercial" hunting films, the complete overuse of background music is just SO annoying! Please...someone...make a hunting video that includes the actual sounds heard while hunting. Every second of that music overdub could have had the actual sound you la were hearing, the wind, the water, the wisp of your boots in the grass, the clatter of rocks as you scramble over them. Instead...we get over 20 minutes aggregate of lord of the dance, Alaska style!
