They weren't cheap with their art. They went beyond and added a map, stage start and totally different urban areas. The labor on the art alone is a reason to buy this. This review is from the wrong angle. The target audience is clearly for those who grew up playing in the 80s and 90s arcade era and those who just enjoy simple, action packed arcade gameplay . Better to just get the game and decide for yourself, if you can afford it, without the fresh negative imprint on your mind of some random reviewer. That's how it was back in the day, we didnt have all these reviewers deciding for us at launch, and we enjoyed things alot more because we werent trained to nitpick and didnt start playing a game with preconceived notions that parts of it arent good. I mean it's basically the job of a critic to nitpick, to bring attention to the bad no matter how minimal, to give a balanced perspective. Which is fine, that's how they make money, I get it. It has its place and can be useful. But that's not our job on the gaming end. We're here to enjoy games. If you saw some gameplay or got hyped when reading about the game, give it a go. Then after forming your own opinion, you can see what others thought about it.

The person playing the game is terrible. They probably didn't grow up playing/watching stuff like this in which case this game is probably not going to be their cup of tea. I grew up watching movies and playing games from the era this was inspired from and absolutely had a blast playing this game. The people that did the sound and music design also deserve a lot of credit. I honestly wouldn't mind having the soundtrack 👍👏.

I don’t understand this review. His criticisms about the visual style are just not correct. The sprite work is PERFECT. The detail, the color pallet, the movement, the design? Literally never seen better sprite work. Each area has a cohesive aesthetic, the obstacles are introduced fairly (most of the time) and the core mechanics are clear, clean, and tight. The music combines 80s video game nostalgia, and 80s action movie soundtrack. The voice acting is very intentional and well done - and the lines are cheesy (in a good way). Literally my only criticism is that the replay value isn’t perfect, and the GOD DAMNED DOGS. (The secrets are pretty nifty too). I’m usually not great at these games with somewhat high difficulty, but I felt motivated to get better at it, and I did, because the game was designed well, and I cared enough about it to improve. I’m outside the target audience for this game, and I think it’s a home run. 9.7/10

I felt this reviewer was way off. The game is a lot of fun and it’s easy to pick up. It doesn’t excessively complicate a platform that doesn’t need to be complicated. It shines because it’s fun to play and it’s a retro game. It’s not supposed to be some dynamic reinvention that adds a complex buildup menu or item purchases or micro transactions. It’s just plainly a joy to play.

Felt like this was a super weird review. This has a very distinct style, yes maybe it's not inventing a new style, but this is a smash action 80's game. I was weirded out by the fact that the simplicity of the game, was misunderstood as lackluster. No, it's supposed to be a fun arcade game, it's not aiming to hit the bars this reviewer is setting.

This game is absolutely badass. The controls are perfect, the weapons are satisfying and diverse, the voice acting is wacky and so much fun. There are ublockables like Badass Difficulty and even a cheat menu (if you get 100%). If you love run n guns, you will keep coming back to this one. Especially with a friend or two!!!

Whoever is playing in this video, isn't doing the gameplay justice and if it's the same person making the review -then it makes sense why the criticism is so harsh. You can't simply "run-and-gun" your way this type of game - which is the point. It has the throwback-style but plays like a "grown-up" version of those classics.

Streets of Rage and Contra aren't the same genre. SoR is a side scrolling beat 'em up and Contra is a run and gun. Comparisons to Contra, Metal Slug and the ilk are valid but comparing to SoR just make you sound like you haven't got a clue. An idea which isn't helped by the video which looks like it's being played by someone who only has a pointer and thumb, pinky combo.

The game is pretty awesome for what it is, a retro style action shooter. Been playing playing it and reminds me of Contra and Duke Nukem. My favorite part of the game is the boss fights. Each have their own unique twist to them and the commentary by each boss is some of the best I’ve heard in side scroller let alone any game. My only regret was buying it on apples App Store thinking it was just a mobile game then finding out later it’s on Switch and PS. The only part of this review I agreed with was that the title of the game is bland besides that it’s a classic.

I think this game is stunning; great art style. I not sure why the review had such a blaze review, but gave it an 8. He wasn't consistent. This game is currently on sale on the Nintendo eshop so I have been trying to get some opinions on it. I can honestly say this is the only outlet I have come across that seemingly didn't like the game. I haven't played it yet so I don't have my own opinion as of now, just thought it was somewhat odd. Huntdown. Game mechanics is tight with your typical jump and shoot with close attacks borrowed from Metal slug and its own use of crouch dash, shoot cover in/out and swappable weapons through the frantic action. You can select to redo completed missions for extra bonuses in story mode Co-op gameplay available with 3 personalities to choose from Graphics is fluid sprite animation, dynamic back/foreground characters, vehicles and subtle environmental effects from lighting, smoke and thematic details. Sound has sufficient voice acing from mission briefing and boss intros,, beefy weapon sounds and a dynamic 80s techno score to compliment the movies action theme. Overall - A well put together small but filling package for those who want quick action game play for 1 or 2 players.

Been here since 1980, I have not seen many games after 1995 that are easthetically identical to this one, jus similar. Cyberpunk distopias are unfortunately mainstream now but since they were and always will be my favourite setting... I am biased.

Each to their own but I like the art style. I'm playing it on a Steam Deck with the CRT filter on so the small screen helps it look good and it visually reminds me of Terminator on the Mega Drive/Genesis. Nostalgia.

Honestly, I'm shocked to see this kind of review from GamingBolt. It almost feels like he hasn't played the game. The game doesn't stand out... I mean come on. Not all the games need to have shit ton of features in it. This game is simple and plain. There's not too much customisation involved, no fluff of such sort or anything. You just get in and get out. And I believe that makes this game work along with all the crazy work these guys have done with the visuals of the game. It's sad to see when people have no idea how crazy difficult it is to achieve this level of visual appeal in a game. Ive got hundreds of rare games on ps4 and this is my favourite. I even like it more than SOR4. And that game is solid. Just goes to show - if you like a game and feel that it is something you would like - you probably will like it. I even bought the vinyl of the soundtrack!
