You keep saying that Kite was his pseudo father, and that he practically raised him. That's not true. He came to Whale Island found Gon and basically told him that his father is alive and the best Hunter ever. He gave him an application card. He stayed for a week or so and then he left on the search for Ging. I mean he's still super duper important if you think about the fact that Gon grew up thinking his father and mother died in an accident. And here comes this hero that tells him: Not only is your father alive. He is a super hero and he is my master. So through me in extension your father invites you to come on this journey and be a hunter, too. A life changing encounter no doubt. A father figure no question. But Kite didn't raise Gon.

I think them separating is for the best. I know all friendships have rough patches but man... Tragedy aside, NEN can be poison sometimes.
