It's not really about the show having explanation, but how it's done. There is no reason for a character to explain his own ability to himself, or waste time explaining their ability to the enemy. This is a prevalent trope in anime, and it's a really bad form of exposition. HxH makes really good use of a narrator in this arc. Some people say too much, I say not enough.

I hate pointless exposition, but that what Morel was doing was not that. It was an internal monologue of his thought process. Seeing how anime is a direct adaptation of manga which tries to stay as faithful as possible, I see no problems with inner-monologues. What Morel was doing was putting what we learned about Nen into practice. They've already seen it on Patreon, but this is the set-up for the way he defeats Cheethu and it also gives more depth to the reasoning why Morel is exhausted later on + we learn about the mental struggles he has to go through to figure out his opponents power and his deduction regarding how he could escape if he stops using Deep Purple or not. No idea why anyone would brush away so many great concepts as ''Narutofying'' something. I also don't get that. Naruto's overdrawn scenes usually have to do with filler and stalling for the manga. That's not the case here, everything is how it's supposed to be. Great internal monologueing about a mental battle. How else would you depict a mental battle?

The narrator explaining the situation and the POV of various characters in this show is why Hunter x Hunter is so good. Morel explaining the fight he is in makes us feel the same tension and feelings he is going through, it also helps us understand the confrontation and keeps us on the edge the entire time.

We don’t know much about the others or their abilities to confirm them, half of them are dead. But going by the definition given to us of nen geniuses, it was never stated they can only be specialist, just that they don’t know they are using nen. So there’s still possibility of them being from other categories.

You can't have a nen ability without activating and training in nen, but you can tap into nen as a non nen user, since nen is literally "life force", as explained way earlier in the series, people that are masters at a craft, sport, art etc and people that are often called "geniuses" are believed to be able to tap into their nen naturally
