@@Pollukene To be fair, yeah it seemed random fanservice like were back...normally people are bored of new arcs intros...lets go into a cool fight to spice things up...its over, then hisoka survived...all things on paper that other work would get called out for...like if black clover did this people would flip, but it's execution, so the main story mixes into the off chapter...before you notice your just along for the ride. Like a character mentioning they quit smoking in chapter 1 then chapter 100 they have a lighter, they use to burn their rope handcufffs, and you later see it's a backstory that they keep it as a reminder of someone they lost when they started smoking after they passed, and that saved their life or whatever..it's a bunch of crap that wont work but a talented writer can make it the most emotional and satisfying thing. Plus a little luck. I'm more interested in the fact that we learn teleportation has flaws. We saw gon teleported to greed island, and chrollo teleported two fighting spiders, and we learn they have many conditions. So what were chrollo's that one time, and does it have to do with the little girl. Is it emission.

What I loved about those earlier chapters is how Togashi brings nen to life. "I really hope I am an emmitter" "Now we have too many emmiters..." "Can you try conjuring birds that turn into handcuffs" says the amature nen user to another not realizing that its the user not the ability that makes someone strong. And many similar conversations. This exploration of nen in real time is why I love HxH.

I think Togashi is setting up an interesting confrontation with them against the 4th prince's guards who doesn't have nen but are extremely smart

Yeah I'm someone who really love to explore "magic" systems and this is why HxH is my favorite manga. I used to love how they explored the magic system in Naruto but after a while I realized how shallow it is and the whole manga ended up going more towards a soft magic system which is pretty boring to me.

I think Togashi does a better job in giving the backstory of villains than others. I remember you weren't thrilled how Snoden's backstory from the Hunger games was handled at all because it felt very flat. Togashi is a good example of how to actually do it and make said villan symthetic but you still don't agree with them of their methods. But you understand where they come from. I grew up with Togashi's Yu Yu Hakasho before Hunter x Hunter, and I remember him pulling off really well charater development through similar storytelling methods. And he pulled off really good villains through those same methods too.

It’s important to note regarding his storytelling style His 2nd work and first hit was YUYU HAKUSHO and it was written in your more standard way of storytelling that you speak of but eventually ended abruptly due to a number of factors , his health decline and him developing a news style that jump didn’t allow him to pursue during its run So next he did a full on gag manga that was just him testing styles and odd structures that was designed to be forgotten from chapter to chapter as it was a monthly manga in a weekly magazine HxH is where Togashi is fully himself , unshackled by jump editors or audience expectations and freely to do whatever he wants He embodies the old adage of “learn the rules then break them “

As someone who's been reading shonen manga since the 90's this is why HxH is my favorite manga. It goes where others don't go and doesn't let the shonen genre shackle him while also making use of everything that makes the genre so enjoyable.

One thing I haven't heard anyone metnion about Hisokas reentrance, is that he actually listened to what Maki told him in chapter 357. In the translation I'm reading -and I assume it says something similar in every translation- Maki tells him: "Then next time, make sure to choose your opponent and the location you fight in more carefully.", and then there is a reaction shot of Hisoka; indicating that he does actually reflect on what she's said (again, that's how it looks to me, but I find it pretty clear.). Fast forward to chapter 392 and when a member of a MAFIA FAMILY tells him: "Why not follow me...?" instead of being like the old him and just going with them, even if it may be a trap or just bad because he'd be in the territory of a potential enemie, instead he's like: Hey! Wanna watch a movie?- and knocks them out, thereby having them come to him in a place of his own choosing. And Togashi doesn't even draw attention to how smart that is. He just does it. Togashi; He does do be good at that author-thingy.

Fantastic video per usual, love hearing your commentary on new chapters. Also just wanted to recommend the series “World Trigger” from Shonen Jump as well. It’s a fantastic action series with really fun characters and strategies and is pretty light hearted. I think you’d very much enjoy the characters, all I’m going to say is the art style is very simple but you get used to it and the story starts very slowly and doesn’t open up for a few volumes, but when the ball starts rolling it gets hard to put down. Excited for your next vid hope you see this recommendation.

For people who dont know Hisoka is on a whole different level now he has post morterm nen so basically he has sooooooo much aura that its ridiculous before he had to be stingy with his aura, but now he can do whatever he wants and not worry, as such he can use advanced nen applications of transmutation and other categories without any Repercussions In other words he can dispatch sooooo many nen masters (like the troupe) all by himself without holding back on his aura

Post mortem nen and nen that becomes stronger after death are different things, the latter is a subset of the former.

Otherwise Camilla would just be getting strong with every usage of her ability. The examples of post mortem nen that we have seen in the series are- Ben's Knife, Phinks talking about Kurapika, Knuckle and Meleoron staying invisible after death implication, Pitou's corpse puppet, Camilla's ability, the have-nots curse nen ability, Misha Hao's ability, Kakin seed urn ceremony, Hisoka's revival, Sun and Moon Elder, Benjamin's ability, etc. And among these the only confirmed post mortem nen that got stronger after death are- Kurapika's judgement chain around Chrollo if he was killed, Pitou's corpse puppet and Sun and Moon Elder. So you see, post mortem nen doesn't always get stronger after death. As stated previously it exists for a purpose and purpose only. Hisoka's purpose was reviving himself. So there is no point in his post mortem nen being there.

I love how Togashi does the unexpected and make things anti climatic. I was legit laughing my ass off when I saw Hisoka was taking a stroll wearing a jump suit and his hair down, going to see a movie. And like you, I love the fear Hisoka instills in people, even from just a brief interaction. The backstory for the PT was incredible, it’s weird to be so emotionally invested in a group full of ruthless killers, but that’s Togashi for you. I’m also so invested in learning more about the PT connection with Shiela and the Kurta clan. Did she get kidnapped by those psychopaths and end up in Kurapika village? Did the Phantom Troupe find those men and track her down to Kurapika’s village? So many questions!

No lie while I am a fan of the giant chess game being played on the ship all that means nothing to me as my favorite moment of these chapters is seeing Chrollo and Pakunoda together again. The Troupe are extremely close but we can see that Chrollo and Paku are probably the closest of the entire group. Even though they are kids I truly believe Chrollo loves Paku. It just goes to show that what Chrollo said in Yorkshin about everyone, including himself, are expendable, just is not true. Which makes Uvo’s death and Paku’s sacrifice mean so much now that we know what drove them to become the group of mass-murdering psychopaths we know and love.

I think you're missing the point of post-mortem nen. several of these post-mortem abilities are cause of the user dying. the old guy in the room and the woman who resurrected that guy are both users who died but who's will and intention was so strong that their abilities persisted and got more intense. So the old guy wasn't faking this with a double body, that was his body before he died. (we've seen bits and pieces of how these post-death abilities work in the previous chapters of this arc. as another example, there's that girl who died but has a copy of her made out of post-death nen that will protect her best friend forever and act the same way as if she herself was still alive.)

He said he spoke the language. And it was established before also. It goes like this: First, the other members joke about how some tapes have languages courses to and from two languages they don't know. Then, the clean-up rangers tape is in one of this languages. Finally, Chrollo tells Pakunoda that he has learnt BOTH OF THOSE LANGUAGES. (You can put two and two together and see he has been using the language course tapes, we know he had them because that's the tape he gives Phinks and Feitan). He goes on and tells Pakunoda that the two languages have very similar grammar so once you learn one the other becomes easier... I mean, it's ON THE DIALOGUE!!!
