It happened to me. I was leading a BFD pug, the 2h epic sword drops and I instantly gave it to the only warrior who didn't had it. Both of the hunters started crying. "mine mine mine mine"

For me, my moment with something like this was in BC. The damned sun-eater sword dropped from the last boss of mechanar and a rogue rolled over me (a prot warrior) to use it for a pvp off-hand. We were in there for 3 and a half hours of wipes and replacing people for a rogue to take a sword with defense and dodge rating on it. I sat there and stared at the final bosses corpse for ages. I still haven't seen that sword drop since.

It's funny cause the bow from BFD was a clear and great upgrade for me with what I had at the time and the warrior knew it yet, they needed it and got it for a few extra stats, despite the fact that I was going to get WAY more out of the bow than the warrior. Did they care? No. When the time came and their nice little sword dropped I needed the shit out of it (not entirely unnecessary as I still benefit from the stats at least some) but why is it a warrior or rogue can need my upgrade bow but I can't even GLANCE at their pretty little melee weapon? I think warriors have had a stick up their ass for too long and they believe hunters were the issue but uh... Fair is fair and that shit, isn't fair.

Blame WoW for putting better DPS warrior stats on leather. We scale so well with it, we don't like it either. The last thing I want to do is use a leather item but cannot help it since the plate version of it is not nearly as good. Guessing they wanted to balance it because of the Armor but that only matters for a tank... dumb!

I completely agree that, it should’ve never even been a discussion.

The irony for those of who played in classic is that its actually the opposite. Warriors were the biggest loot whores in wow classic. They tanked but they needed on all dps loot, they dpsd they rolled on all tank loot. Then came warriors rolling on healing gear. First off the raid setup needs to have feral, and it also needs to have not as many melees so the hunter gets a spot, otherwise it's coming at a trade off. Heck even a shaman tank is better in the melee group than hunter because they give the str totem to the rest of the melee and the hunter takes up that slot. Second off, they are only using that weapon for 50% (if even) of their rotation compared to 100% of uptime of a warrior doing so. I have a hunter and I refuse to play melee on point of principle because of all of the above. 1 Rogue 1 feral 1 shaman tank and 2 warriors is better than a hunter in that setup.

@@EntertheFray1 All that text and yet you dont know about melee weaving? the number 1 playstyle for hunter dps. You still use ranged attacks, but between multi shot CD and ranged weapon swing timer you run in for a raptorstrike+flanking strike (when its not on CD) and spam wing clip on the way out to ranged to fish for windfury procs. U go back and forth between ranged and melee for 100% damage uptime when u would otherwise just stand there and wait for next shot. This playstyle is not for noobs like yourself, so in your position sure dont go for melee weapons since u cant really use them properly. But a skilled hunter can, and the 2h hydra sword is their BIS.
