Very helpful and clear video! I was taught to use a ratchet strap to hold the clutches, using a breaker bar. It works great.

Very clear and helpful instructions. I used impact wrench without any issues…made the job easy. I have a Gen 1 Outlander 800 and noticed in my owners manual the torque for the primary clutch bolt is 74lbf*ft…the video mentioned 89 which is too much for the G1.
@Hunterworks5 ай бұрын
The 89 is for the model in the video and while i am a impact guy I never use it on a can am, you got one shot to get this right, if it turns on the shaft it will rarely hold again

The proper way is to lock up the crankshaft first then tighten the bolt, there is a small cover you have to remove to screw a bolt into the crankcase. Backyard mechanics usually blow up their clutches by taking shortcuts.

We are doing it the way Can Am service manual states

If you have a 2022 outlander 450 the primary has left hand threads.
@CYOTsNiper8 ай бұрын
Would you suggest putting blue loctite on the primary as you did for the secondary? I would love to get a belt if you made them for the 450!

can you use something else if you don’t have a clutch puller?
@Hunterworks2 ай бұрын
maybe but a good way to ruin a clutch. A bolt and rod maybe, but the rods bend and screw the crank up. Order the puller from us, you will have a USA made one in two days

Hey, might be nice to mention that the bolt os removed turning clockwise, not counter-clockwise

What bolt? Both primary and secondary bolts on this one are right hand
@edwardhorvath5731 Жыл бұрын
The primary (front one) is reverse thread on the 2005 Can Am Outlander. I found that out the hard way, by having it cranked on till it broke. It then came out with my finger, when turning reverse.@@Hunterworks

@@Hunterworks I have say with my 22 outlander 450 I to thought it was right hand thread on the primary and snapped it! After picking up the head of the bolt off the floor I saw the LH stamped in the head of the bolt! 🤦♂️ lesson learned the hard way! When I get the replacement bolt and torque it to specs, I’m still going to be nervous even knowing the correct thread direction now!!! lol

Hi, I have an older model, a 2006, i've taken the primary clutch bolt out, but the assembly did not spring out, how can I pull it out ?

@@crazylifeofme6465 I guess a belt change tool and a torquing tool you don’t need a clutch puller unless you’re taking the back half of the primary off but if you’re gonna take it off, then all three they can be found on our outlander page on the website
