Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

There will always be a level of sadness in death, in the eyes of a human. We sympathize and see ourselves a little bit in each animal. However, it is an inevitability. Life will come and go. No exceptions. Some will need to eat, and some will need to perish. Keeping it humane and respectful is what sets us apart from any other species that consumes meat out there.

Taking an animal from birds to deer and bear is hard.. but if I’m not the one taking it’s life for food. Mother Nature will. Hunting is the most organic way to get meat. Death is hard but my family and friends get to enjoy the hard work into harvesting that animal. Way harder then buying meat at a market that’s for sure.

If I have to choose between eating A) a hunted deer that was given a quick death and saved from getting eaten alive by coyotes in a year or two, or B) a pig that is overfed to the point that it lives in constant pain, and is kept in a constrictive pen where it can't even roam for the few short years before it is unceremoniously slaughtered Yeah I'd rather eat A any day man. At least here in the Midwestern US I sometimes have the choice to get free range meat where the animals are treated far more humanely, but it's not always affordable or available, and people in more urban areas exclusively have access to factory farmed meat.

But they are buying more animals from the government parks. So isn't that reducing the population of the animals in those parks?
@solandri69
@solandri69 Жыл бұрын
@@KazimaliMawji Animals are a renewable resource. The population of a particular species grows until their environment isn't able to support any more (not enough land or food, too much predation). It's called a carrying capacity. So as long as you don't remove too many animals at once or enough to upset the ecological balance, the population will once again hit that same max (carrying capacity). Another way to think of it is that when you remove one animal from the government park, that frees up enough ecological resources (land, food) for an extra animal to grow to replace it. And the population in the government park will stabilize again at whatever level it would have been if you hadn't removed the animal in the first place. As long as you don't remove too many animals at once (drive the population so low that it can't replenish itself quickly enough to counter your removal rate), the process is sustainable without impacting the population or the ecological balance. It's how fisheries are managed (though fish reproduce a lot more quickly).

In northern Australia often we eat calf nuts. Delicious. BUT, always cooked, split them and grill over an open fire. Little bit of char is ok. The zebra may have been a bit too mature? If the boere stalled, interesting, usually they’re pretty tough guys. Gotta cook them first. Open fire ‘braai’ is perfect. Good luck.

It's a natural reaction, but they're raised in a game farm, and in any farm you have to cull the herd anyway. So if tourists weren't shooting them, the farm's resident hunter would be doing it in any case. We get to make sure we have plenty of our natural fauna, foreigners can experience a hunt, and the meat doesn't go to waste. It's symbiotic.

Merry Christmas Sonny and crew! Thanks for the wonderful worldly experiences you've given us and education of the many cultures that exist some of us have never heard of. I truly hope you have many more journeys to share with us and don't let others negativity get you down when they don't agree with some of the things you do as an educator. As you've shown in great detail the world is a bigger place than our modern backyards here in the cities and the path to knowledge is long and difficult, but the reward is the preservation of history, food, religion and culture so that nothing will be forgotten again. By hardening our hearts to another's way of life we are rejecting and judging others when we have no right to judge, we are not without our own flaws and different lifestyles as individuals. May you have a blessed New Year

@@rea9305 They are stabilizing the local animal populations and bringing back several from the brink of extinction. That seems like the good side to me.

@@rea9305the animal gets to live a full and natural life without almost any interference from humans. It’s a form of farming, and should be recognized as such. And it’s a lot more natural and humane than a lot of modern meat farming methods. I hate to say it, but an animal in Africa isn’t any different than an animal anywhere else. They aren’t more sacred. They are animals. All animals should be respected and hunted sustainably and humanely. Plus they really aren’t doing anything that nature wouldn’t do. Watch a pack of wild painted dogs hunt and kill an animal. It’s brutal.
