When I bought, gold was around $2450 USD. It cost 43,000 Thai baht for 1 baht gold.

@@SirWinkleton_Travels They are. At the Hua Lamphong end, not the Pahurat one. Shops just specialising in them. I've seen monks in the gold shops. Probably selling some talisman to fund a trip to a massage parlour! : )

Interesting! Well next time I'm in Thailand I'll have to keep my eyes out for that. Would be cool to see but I wouldn't need it for myself. Rather stick with spending money on gold.

@@SirWinkleton_Travels How about going to the gem mall near Saphan Taksin and getting some jade or Colombian emeralds? There is a mall closeby which specialises in silver for wholesale. I've never seen anything like it.
