Keep your hands on the middle leg of the volume. If there is a hum Out loudspeaker, indicating that the amplifier is good. Later, use a pointed screwdriver to remove the antenna. Is there a crack sound coming out of the speakers or not? If not, it indicates that the source receiver has a problem..

It usually isn't a transistor at fault, It;s most often a connection, like a broken wire, bad contact, broken volume control.
