Thanks for the vid. Enjoy your content. I have a couple of thoughts It’s great that you’re doing the getting into hunting series. Wish it was around when I started. I was lucky to have an ex deer culler teach me. Not sure how you plan to run it but one of the biggest challenges IMO these days is this belief that we need the next best bit of gear to make us better hunters. I’m very guilty of this myself. I hope in your series you can show that this is not needed and in fact can make you a less effective hunter as you tend to lean on it too much thinking it will help. Some of the gear now days (especially if starting from scratch) can start adding up really quickly. Your setup is a good example. Nothing wrong with it but I’m sure you did a lot of yards with a beater rifle for years before getting the flasher gear. New hunters are far better placed buying a ‘cheap’ rifle like a howa and spending money on petrol, ammo to train, and time in the bush.

Good points for sure. My series will start with how I started with a $500 rifle and how I did that. The gear is another field of interest in the Hobbie and agree not all necessary.

Thanks for the great videos in 2024. You should so train up a dog. Interesting seeing the 284 compared to 7mm08 (the superior round). Be pretty cool to do a calibre overview. Find the visual showing of casings helps when understanding all the numbers people bandy around! Provides you with more options, as you can move to where the animals are, if they aren't in the open. Really like the Southern lite packs - just wish there was a meat shelf option - provides so much more space and flexibility - particularly on longer hunts. God bless and merry christmas.

I use the same bullet in my .280 Ackley improved for steel. Curious why you hunt with it .I switched to solid copper, mostly Barnes, and would never want to switch back.

Thanks. They work well for hunting, so I use them. They also hold better wind bucking ability and energy thanks to the BC of the projectile.
