2022 was a vintage year for ghost stories on the BBC - apart from some classic repeats and shiny new ghost stories on the television, Radio 4 picked up the gauntlet from the old days and broadcast a brand new version of The Signalman on Christmas Day. I've uploaded that to the channel, if you want to hear it. And immediately afterwards, they broadcast this - a warm, fireside chat between ghost story enthusiasts Mark Gatiss and the reverend Richard Coles. Warm and typically enthusiastic, it makes for a companionable discussion of a favourite subject...

This is essentially unintentional ASMR with the two of their voices. I love Mark Gatiss and how, despite him being a skeptic and an atheist, he is willing to be open and receptive to other people’s experiences, including Richard’s. And the fact that they have such an open, honest conversation about death, the supernatural, & faith, which is not something you would get typically. I’m also surprised that Mark is very soft spoken as well as Richard. And let me just say, the two of them have great chemistry together and immediately hit it off when they meet. Would love to see them do a ghost hunting show together, or something else along those lines.
