Was surprised to see Jim's Pacific brand boat is apparently an aluminum one. I have heard aluminum/salt water creates corrosion issues...?

Me and the wife fell in love with the Island a couple years ago. This spring is going to be the permanent move we absolutely can’t wait. Randy if you talk to your brother tell him Maddog says hello. I’m an ex B Fallser 😂

At what maximum distance would you have taken with your 308? I assume you are using a Nosler 180 Partition cartridge? If my assumption is wrong, what cartridge are you carrying in your magazine?
@Fresh_Tracks Жыл бұрын
165 Partition. We like to keep our shots 300 yards in most hunting scenarios. We can get pretty close in most instances when hunting coastal black bears!

HA!! I just returned from Prince of Whales a couple of weeks ago after a week of hunting blacktail deer on the island. What timing. I am also looking to go on a yacht black bear hunting trip in the next year.
@Randy_Savage_ohyeah Жыл бұрын
How was the hunting? Have a buddy who lives there and says the Deer are tough to hunt and few and far between. Too many wolves.
@lspostma Жыл бұрын
@@Randy_Savage_ohyeah It was very different than I had expected. I was under the impression that there were a bunch of clearcuts and roads back into the woods, but all of the ones on the north half of the island was really overgrown. Few deer, and the rut was later than normal due to excess moisture.

@@lspostma if you want to do a good Kodiak Deer hunt i'd recommend Kodiak Island. Ive hunted it several times and could point you in the right direction.
@lspostma Жыл бұрын
@@Randy_Savage_ohyeah Oh I agree fully with that. I was on Kodiak in May helping a friend try to bag a brown bear, and some of the deer sheds we found 😲. The reason I went to POW was because I had won a 6 night stay with travel and meals at a lodge on POW, and couldn't use it during the summer fishing months, so I applied for the bear tag and was not drawn, but had a window of time that I had to use the stay. So blacktail it was.
@Randy_Savage_ohyeah Жыл бұрын
@@lspostma sounds like you know exactly what's up and have connections already. Pretty sweet winning free lodging and meals...i would never get so lucky.

"I'm not supposed to life more then 5 pounds" then immediately carries the rifle. Id bet its over 5 pounds in that case.

@clintdyson5765 Жыл бұрын
Not sure why you felt the need to get within shotgun range of a shooter bear and not even have your rifle ready!!! Obviously you really didn't want to kill him. Lol. But after the grouse shooting display. Probably good you don't take a 250 yrd shot! 😂. Great content tho. Makes it exciting
@robinsok Жыл бұрын
😂 Right! It seemed like they walked in the wide open until they spooked him! I agree maybe Randy just didn't want the experience to be over in a matter of hours??
@Randy_Savage_ohyeah Жыл бұрын
Thought he should have set up at 200-175yards and waited for shot opportunity vice pushing in so close in wide open. But not my hunt so my opinion means squat!

Just stupid, just to play the cool host and forget that hunting is wat we are here for. Kill sheep and elk at 300 +, but let the bear walk at les then 200. Logik or theater.
@lenniephillips9747 Жыл бұрын
There was a hunt, but no kill. Some of my most interesting hunts are of animals that outdid me, no shots fired, but lots of fun. If the hunt is all about the kill, then there is something big that's lost.
