I have the 1994 hugger and I LOVE it! Inherited it from my dad so it will always have a special place in my heart. I’m 177 cm and 70 kg and I would not like any other bike than this nice sporty one. The big ones are nothing for me, too heavy and too chunky for me.

I feel the same way. If I could go back to the summer of 1988 I woulda bought a 883, put some pipes on it & thats it.

I bought my first Harley when I was 17. It was a brand new 1987 Hugger 883, in candy plum; the first thing I did was put drag pipes on it, dual seat, sissy bar, chrome battery case; and of course, a couple of those "ride to live" gold badges on her. All my class mates in high school that rode bikes, were either riding Ninjas or scooters. I look back and think how funny it was back then with all the weird looks I got every time I rode it to school in the morning. Nearly everyone thought I was crazy, but I didn't give a damn. Oh, I was told all kinds of crap about how much of a POS it was. That it was going to leak oil all over the place, and break down the first month, etc. I just ignored those people, because I loved that bike. That 883 motor ran solid, and never gave me any trouble. The only issue I had was that I had to constantly keep buying turn signal bulbs for the handlebars, because they just couldn't hold up to the vibration.

It's a shame how that works. These bikes seem like they give that ultimate freedom factor and and apparently outlast the sport bikes. People like making fun of others who aren't doing what's popular at the moment.
@ericweber19694 жыл бұрын
I loved sportbikes in high school, but I wouldn't have been one of the morons making fun of you for riding a Harley. I've always liked all kinds of bikes, and in high school, tended to hang out with people who actually thought for themselves. Not much has changed since. Bravo to you for thinking for yourself, it's an incredibly liberating feeling. Actually looking for a Sportster myself nowadays...

First of all, thanks for making the vids. They are awesome, the bikes and the vids. Simply amazing to a Harley enthusiast like me. Thank you again. I feel that I am a bit unlucky to live in Malaysia as the price of a Harley is way too expensive to own one. I truly envy the Americans who can simply get a brand new or a used ones at a relatively low prices. And, one doesn't even have to make a huge hole in their pockets. I wish I can own some of the greatest American classic bikes made by Harley Davidson. I have been keeping this dream for years and years. It just seems to be a far fetch kinda dream. I can't resist them but, I sincerely hope that one day I can have one... Perhaps this sounds rather lame to some who own a few and have ridden them before but seriously, to own one in this country isn't just for a layman like me. Anyways, keep posting... I truly enjoy watching your vids. Simple and no bs. Thumbs up!!!

Just picked up one of these (96) w/ 24k, but in showroom condition, with highway pegs, original sportster leather bags ($650 new), and a windshield for $2300. It is fun and a cheap way to enter the Harley scene when you don't have the big bucks to blow on a more classic Harley.

I bought a 1991 883, I liked it., Bright Candy Ruby. I put 8,000 miles on in 6 months and traded in for a 1991 FLHS, same color. I have 150,000 miles on it, no kidding. Now at 64 I can see a day when I might go back to a Sportster. Maybe 15 years off. I would get the 883. If they still make it. Of course, maybe a Live Wire version.

that would depend on how much you like the bike as it is now, and how much money you can throw away. to bob it will not hurt the value much or increase it at all, in today's market

That is a very nice bike. I have a 2007 and this one looks like it might be in better condition then mine. Mine has a little bit of rust here and there (I don't know why) and I don't know what to do to get rid of it without hurting the finish
