Operator error happens. So pay attention to how I cleared out the carb when I forgot to take the choke off!

Guy showed up at the bar with a 42 knuckle yesterday. He’s has it since high school. Mostly original. Started it 1 kick, twice. I’m still trying to get my shovel to start 1 kick every time. I’m just a youngin tryin to get my learnins in!!! Thanks for the videos 😎🤘

I wouldn’t even know where to start with starting one of these real old school harleys and I’ve been riding bikes my whole life. Thanks for this. Very informative

@hunting harleys I had been watching you for about a year before I bought my first bike, a 2000 xl1200. I know she is a little younger than you are interested in, but I have to say that I knew that they had to warm up, but I started using your technique of feeling the heat work it’s way through the cylinders with my hand from you. Seeing you touching and palming the cylinders while they warm up, and imitating that, really helped me learn my bike and her quirks. Awesome videos my dude!

Wicked cool Todd, thanks for the demo. I run a Mikuni 42 flat side on my 02 Train and although starting the motorcycle has come a long way, she certainly has her own way of talking to me here in New England throughout the seasons. Long live the venturi controlled fuel leak

right on. uber cool. I have found with my bikes that none of them are exactly alike. They all have little differences in how they start.

So when you're talking about cracking the head before it warms up you're referring to the knuckle being a cast iron head, in 48 when they switched to aluminum heads they aren't as prone to cracking as the older iron heads correct ? ...

They way I start, is full choke,, kick over 3 times with full throttle on. Then put half throttle, turn key on,,open1/4 throttle open,,kick over,,first kick,, will start up,and keep running ..
