Awesome hunt Ryan. After watching your earlier commentary, it is especially rewarding to watch you relive some of the good old days.

You sir are an inspiration, I’ve been hunting up there since kid times too and really appreciate your insights and positivity in such adverse conditions literally and metaphorically. Thanks 🤙🏼

Great hunt Ryan! Thanks for sharing your game management perspective. Just took my daughter on her first hunt. She got a nice buck now we talking about maybe going for a sheep on Hawaii Island.

We need more people like you. I grew up hunting on mauna kea as well. Allot of people take for granted the awesome lifestyle we have in hawaii. Ive been living in the mainland and let me tell you hunting there is just so extra. All the rules, tags you have to buy, minimal pulic lands. A huge amount of hunters with allot of money and toys hard to bag something opening season on public lands. Like people wait all year in colorado for a couple weekends to hunt public lands. Here we can basically find a zone to hunt in all year round without having to buy tags. What we have in hawaii is a blessing and should be preserved for future generations to enjoy.

I hear you. It is a multi-year undertaking to go hunt mainland from Hawaii between applications, points, draws, and then the cost. I'll dare say a lot of Hawaii hunters, that haven't been elsewhere, take for granted what they have. I've been involved in efforts to prevent future losses over the years ... but in the end, I have been relegated back to just doing KZbin. I don't think the value is fully known until it is lost perhaps ...

That is an awesome hunt I enjoy your videos. I’ve never hunted up there but I really want to get a sheep hunt in. I need guidance though. Let me know if you are willing to steer me in the right direction. Thanks

i've been up there, rough walking, used a Ruger 10" in 44 magnum, the telescopes were almost level w/ me! i got within 40 yds. but my partner spooked the herd so i didn't have to carry that animal back down to the truck.

It's a Rem Model 7 that was gifted to me when I was a kid and then later (some years ago) rebarreled, etc. customized by my father.
