I Did this same exact 2JZ Swap into a 1998 4x4 TRD Off Road X-Cab 5 speed V6 Tacoma 11 years ago. You did almost exactly the same install I did. Using the same 1JZ R154 Bell housing I did. I ended up using a RPS twin disk carbon carbon strapless clutch good for 1,200 horsepower. I little over kill for my HP range, but ended all clutch issues I was having. Best decision I made after dealing with cheap single disk clutches that either had unpredictable engagement points, snap clips popping off the throw out bearing and so on. The RPS clutch was so smooth very predicable engagement with light pedal pressure. Like a stock V6 tacoma clutch. The carbon clutch is designed to be slipped. The hotter it gets the harder it grips. The clutch is also rebuildable when it does wear out. I also moved the transmission back 2 1/2 inches. Welding a new T-Case mount bracket I fabricated to the cross member. Lengthened the front drive line 2 1/2 inches and shortened the rear 2 1/2 inches. Cooing fans in front. Intercooler almost in the same place. I positioned my intercooler up higher with the bottom center of the valance cut out. Intercooler looks about the same size but I tucked it up just a bit higher. I used a FRONT sump non VVTI engine. That also will clear the differential, steering rack and frame cross member. No modification was needed to the oil pan. I put an oil filter relocating kit in mine since the stock oil filter location on the 2JZ is really close to the suspension tower in the Tacoma. My oil filter is located on the inside of the drivers side frame rail next to the transmission. Easy oil and filter change that way. Having the base of the filter up or the top of the filter pointed towards the ground makes changing the oil a lot less messy since no oil spills out of the filter while spinning it off. Not sure a rear sump will work in a 4x4 Tacoma or 3rd gen 4Runner with the differential in the stock location. I kept my truck at stock height. Clearly your differential is dropped way lower with that huge lift kit you have. Like you, I did the whole swap without cutting anything. No frame mods or engine compartments mods. Did the swap with the idea I could put the 3.4 V6 back in if I wanted to and no sings of any modifications would ever show from a 2JZ being in there. Also did the swap to maintain all functionality of all the factory gauges, AC, power steering and cruise control. 100% of everything in the truck functioned after the swap including the factory differential lock. I also converted 2JZ over to OBDII to pass state emissions. It passed 3 times with no failed test the 5 years I had it. Since the truck is OBDII standard and had to have a functional OBDII port to pass state emissions. I had Tweaked Performance out of Georgia custom modify my non VVTI JDM 2JZ engine harness with all the 4x4 Transmission connections, USDM modifications for all the OBDII parts needed in the 2JZ OBDII USDM standards including using a 1998 USDM OBDII 6 Speed Supers ECU. Other than adding the wiring and plugs for the tacoma tranny & T-case. Tweaked also had to wire in the resistor solenoid for the USDM 550cc fuel injectors, The plug connector for the USDM mass air flow meter and a resistor mod for the non existent EGR valve on the JDM 2JZ engine. Tweaked also modified the harness body plug that plugs into the main body harness to just plug into my 1998 Tacoma. No wiring in my truck was cut, spliced or modified either. The JDM and USDM ECU Plugs connectors are the same. Whole swap was plug and play. When all done. My Turbo Taco came up as a 1998 Turbo 6 Speed Supra on scan tools when running diagnostics. The fortunate thing for you is a lot of off shelf bolt in stuff is available now for swapping 2JZ into a Tacoma along with just about anything else people want to swap a 2JZ into these days. When I did this 11 years ago. A 2JZ in a functioning 4x4 Tacoma did not exists anywhere online. I searched forums, countless web sites. NOTHING. I found two wheel drive Tacomas and 4Runners. No 4x4 2JZ Swapped Tacoma existed yet. I set out to figure it out on my own. No one supplied anything for putting the 2JZ in a Tacoma. I had to fabricate and weld my own motor mount brackets for the engine. I used LC Engineerings Bomb Proof Mounts to bolt to the frame and the fabricated mounts I made. No intercooler kits were available either. I did a lot of measuring and managed to get it right the first time when parts showed up. All the piping and instercoolier installed all worked out. From start to finish. The swap took two days from pulling out the V6 to first drive with the 2JZ. Everything about the truck looked stock other than the intercooler showing in the center where the plastic valance was removed. The video links show my truck right after I got it done and later on I swapped out the stock twin turbos for a big Precision turbo with a set of HKS 264 cams. My truck was between about 450 to 500 horsepower which is about the max with a stock USDM OBDII ECU. Stock USDM 2JZs have a bit more room for horsepower gains than the JDM Versions. Mostly due to the turbos and injectors used on JDM vs USDM. JDM fuel injectors are only 440cc. USDM injectors are 550cc. Since I had to install the USDM 550cc injectors in my engine with the OBDII USDM ECU. That gave me more room for power with the big Precision Turbo I eventually swapped in. To go beyond where I was required going to a Stand Alone ECU. Trust me, as you know also. The toque and horsepower I was at in my truck was quite enough to get the job done quite well. Including smoking the tires through the gears. One mod you MUST do if you haven't yet is get a short throw shifter. Man that makes a HUGE difference shifting a lot faster. I use a B&M Short throw shifter kit for ALL R150F Transmissions from 1988 to 2004. Yes, That's correct. The shifter towers are the same from 1988 to 2004. Only big difference between the R150F used on the 1988-1995 3.0 V6 and the 1995.5-2004 3.4L V6 is the length of the input Shaft which also is why the bell housings are an inch different in dept. The 3.0 bell housings are an inch shallower since the input shafts are 1 inch shorter. The videos clearly show changes over time in my truck. Twin turbos in some and the single turbo in others. Boost and AF ratio gauges changed, dash cluster swap from black to white face. Wheels and tires changed. I also installed some really hefty traction bars. The 4x4 Tacomas are notorious for cracking and breaking leaf springs. Breaking springs I knew would be a problem big time with this swap. The torque these engine put out I knew would really increase the axle wrap up and hopping. The traction bars eliminated all the axle hop and axle twisting. Kept the axle solid in place like link suspension set ups do. Never broke a spring in the 5 years I had it. The friend of mine I sold it to had it up till last year. He nevrer broken a spring. The only thing that ever broken in the truck was a ring gear in the rear diff once a few year ago. Other than that. The truck has been very solid, very reliable clocking over 70,000 miles with no issues other then the one ring gear issue. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZC0oZKan7hjbsk kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYOpq4WBiK6ahJI kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaibpn2igrSBnaM kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIG0iGShfslksJI kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2WoY6CHorJkjqc
