Hunting Javelina with an Air Rifle! Tips for planning your hunt.

In this video, I'll share one of my top 5 airgun hunts, the Javelina! I am frequently asked the question; can you hunt with airguns? And the answer is most definitely yes, and in this video, I'll provide a number of airgun hunting tips that will help you in setting up your own airgunning adventures.

I've hunted them in Trinidad and Tobago, in the northern mountains. Their sense of smell is really good, and when they start running lol damn. Very tasty as well.

@americanairgunhunter it's good hunting for suck a small island. We have red brocket deer, peccary, agouti, paca, armadillo. Air rifle legislation is not the friendliest, though. You're only allowed .177, and it has to be smoothe bore....yeah, you read that right, smoothe bore lol.

very nice video. I have hunted them in Texas. they would lounge on my back porch. I haven't hunted them with my air rifles yet. taken several with my AR, but I am hunting less and less with a firearm and more with an air rifle. I own 17 of them. now I have got to move back to Arizona or Texas, not many javelina here in south Florida.

Have you ever used the Walther Reign? I recently purchased one in .22 cal. and am happy with it except for the darned fill probe. None of my other rifles have this but you make due. Really enjoy your productions and am happy that you always come back to my home state of Texas to hunt.

Have used several of Walther Pcp’s and springers, but not the Reign. All of their guns have been well designed and solidly constructed. Not just Walther but everyone using proprietary fill probes is one of my pet peeves. Like you say it’s annoying when you have several rifles.

Have some land down at Terlingua Ranch and can’t wait to do some javelina hunting. I’m used to hog hunting here in N. TX though they haven’t been around the ranch so much this year.

I'm heading down to Texas next month. Starting down near Sanderson for predators, then heading north of Abilene to hunt hogs, then driving up to tribal lands in S. Dakota for prairie dogs. I have 15 days of hunting lined up!

Good video. I hunt them here in Belize but in the jungle. They love the thickest stuff and the swamps. I've always wanted to hunt them, spot and stalk, in some open dry country. Maybe someday I'll get a chance to?

@@americanairgunhunter well, the law is very grey. I hunt everything with my airgun but I had to use a firearm license to get my hunting license. It's better to not ask too many questions about legalities. I have not yet shot a deer or peccary with my airgun but I'm sure I will soon.

Thats correct, it is shown on the screen at 03:01. The regulation had previously been 3 and reduced to 2. It has always seemed strange to me that they have a limit but no tagging system.

It's so strange not the first person I heard this from, that Texas don't have a lot of public land for hunting being a large state.

It's an interesting history, but in brief Texas was an independent nation when annexed into the US, and was allowed to administer all state land. The state was also close to bankrupt and sold off most open land to private buyers. Because of this there is almost no federal land, besides military bases and a few national parks (they don't allow hunting) and a small handful of national forests (which do allow hunting but are very crowded).
