After multiple scouting missions, 3x trips back and forth to Australia I found my deer! I found the monster I was looking for! Through 2 weeks of persistence I finally came face to face with a free range red that was an absolute monster! Over the last three days we played cat and mouse and finally I let an arrow fly! Join me for the Hunt of a lifetime! Many more to come!

Thanks allot, yeah put some effort into capturing it. Was something fun to do in the middle of the day when it’s a bit quiet. Even makes me want to go back. Although, the first step onto that wet steep prickly bush it would all come flooding back I’m sure hahaha

Maaaate 😲… I was on the edge of my seat at times. So gutted for you not locating your kill. I’m not a hunter so never really thought about not finding what one shoots if it runs off for a bit before dropping. Excellent vid. Like others say, was a bit like we were there. Found myself whispering too 🤫🤣

Thanks so much mate! I promise you there’s some gold missions very soon! Thanks for hanging in there, I rmebered you reached out a few vids ago! Also really cool to be able to share what hunting is like and how hard it is to even see and get in on these animals! Really appreciate your message and glad you felt apart of the action!

@@FollowingABrokenCompass Cheers mate. Looking forward to it. Make content that you want & makes you happy. Not what the viewers ask for. Sounds strange but if you start creating what others want more so than you want then it’ll show in the vids. Love your passion in what you do.

Yeah cheers for that. I was hesitant putting hunting footage up, lost a heap of subscribers - but I have really enjoyed making these videos. It’s prob the hardest thing to do self filming it and I absolutely love making them. Allot of the gold crew have left but I’m sure they will be back! But really appreciated the comment as that was a really hard video to make and I’m stoked how it turned out so getting these messages is really nice! I do allot of my adventures solo and it keeps me sane stuck out at work for two weeks away, I recently went to stradbroke island and didn’t film a thing as I didn’t feel like it, as I agree -It shows on the films. I don’t think this will ever turn into much but super cool to have these as it mtotivatea myself to go out on breaks and get off my fat arse hahaha ! Thanks again!

It’s the best thing ever! Option archery quiviliser puts some weight forward, and makes it a dream to carry no hands. Also clips off and can go up right dead quietly if needed. I highly recommend! Thanks for the kind words also!

Went reading the comments section...must be a miner aye bro? And into prospecting gold? Should've said first that it's cool to see a good Aussie bloke blasting the South Island. Who isn't gutted you didn't find the trophy... I've gleaned a few of ya vids and like others said, whispering gets to us too, some laughs and disappointment, but generally happy you did what you've done! This one got you another sub

@tarawaukeri8928 yeah mate. Just got back into the mines and have a nice roster of even time. And yes, I enjoy the search for gold. It’s like hunting…you get skunked allot and then when you find something it makes it so much better. Yeah I have put allot of effort in on the South Island, hard work being an Aussie and just trying to figure it out especially with a bow. Even seeing a deer I was stoked, then to finally see a big trophy was just amazing! Appreciate the messages!

It was really, really hard to edit. It was such a slog, I had great footage but didn’t know how it would live together. I wanted to be super carefull with people starting to believe bow hunting is not ethical and the flack in Australia with areas being shut down. Arrows or bullets, they are tough animals an incorrect shot with either can result in a bad situation and even with a great shot every hunter knows that tracking and finding an animal dead or alive in that bush is near impossible sometimes, I did everything I could I was exhausted. Appreciate your kind words- and very true, if I went with a gun everytime I would be bored, the challenge and hardships you encounter trying to even let an arrow fly are insane! Seems with the responses people are enjoying this video! HOW BIG is that other bloke that pushed out of the bush! My god that thing was a freaking monster, I was shaking! Thanks again for always commenting legend!

Thanks mate! Yeah the legs were bricks, the body was shot but couldn’t give up- camping out in some unknown land brought some epic childhood feelings though, highly recommend it. The bush however was more annoying then being left at first reef pipe with 10 Australian boogs, three waves left before the set and thinking do I go this closeout and maybe get a shot or paddle like hell and prob still die coping that third reef thing on the head hahaha lose lose hahah

Nah I didn’t mate, it was at the furthest place on there property and really dense bush. They didn’t offer and personally knowing the time it would take for them to get the dogs over the range and into that area and then look / it would be almost half a day or more plus getting back and I wouldn’t expect that, they have there full days cut out just trying to get work done yet alone come assist me. Them just having me there was enough, I didn’t want to be a burden. Looks nice and open but to get over to that side you have to drive around the range for access.

Oh man it still cuts me up. And I got access through a mates mate. Two weeks after I left they sold and moved to the north island or this year I would have been back there as I figured out where three of these beasts rut. Staying in aus this rut, actually heading out for 2 weeks in 3 days time. 1 week at 2 different fallow properties and then down to chase reds ! Got some nice bowhunting clips dropping in about a month if you enjoyed this one- you’ll like the next one where I get a big Rusa stag

This what happens when you take,low percentage risky shots.This is the problem with utube hunters,have to get that footage,have to get the shot.Did not work out this time. But that's bowhuntin.
@FollowingABrokenCompass
@FollowingABrokenCompass 3 ай бұрын
Three trips to nz and took one shot at 20m on a doe and one 45m frontal like they practically all present to you in the rut. And a clean heart shot from here is fatal. I did 8 weeks hunting total this year and wouldn’t really call that flinging arrows left right and center. Practice all year at 50m tennis ball groupings. I get what your saying but your telling me a gun shot from 150m- 350m over a ridge when you can’t even see a stick is better? Each to there own man, I have to live with the guilt of this and not finding him- that is hunting and it blows, and I hate I never found him. I do start to get frustrated about the bow calls but, as gun shots go of it’s always three or 4 in a row of a running deer getting peppered from a distance and I see the same beast running miles over the hills in the distance still hobbling away- or only a head and cape coming home no meat, there’s allot of crappy things about hunting. I appreciate your take on it, but with the amount of arrows I let fly and most hunts I go not even knocking an arrow it’s a little insulting.

@@FollowingABrokenCompass Tennis balls don't move. Y?our ethics are yours.
@FollowingABrokenCompass
@FollowingABrokenCompass 3 ай бұрын
They move when Rodger Federer hits them hahah. But this tennis ball (deer heart ) pulled up and was stationary, it’s just all placement. Each to there own mate, I practice that shot day after day and didn’t attempt it for 4 years, now I really favour it I. The rut especially as they will pull up like that and push there cheat out, I am actaully currently sitting here now after the fallow rut in Australia cleaning an animal from the exact same shot. Clean hear pass through, your right….I made the decision to shoot and I have to live with that. It does still haunt me never getting the meat of that guy- I hate that for any hunt but these things happen gun or bow you just hope he died fast and by the crash I heard I’m the bush to silence he did. I think I’m very ethical in my approaches, I eat everything I kill while others hunt the rut and claim the meat to be rutty and just take heads and meat. Guys with guns on the distance rarely ring one shot, I hear 2/3/4 and still see the deer run away. Appreciate your comment, but on such large animals the frontal shot is a devastating blow. You just need the correct broadheads and weighted arrows to make sure you hit with a punch. Happy hunting to you- cheers 🍻
