Surfed all those breaks, fished all those waters all my life, live a bit south of there. Next week Im house sitting for my son at Bawley. Years a go a 90 year old guy told me of his patch to the west in rugged country his dad mined when he was a kid, while they lived in a bush hut. Its unmarked, it hasn't been prospected since. He gave me rough indication where. It's at bit outside of my normal mining area but I'll try to find it and give it a bit of a detect. Yeh, and I have a troopy too. Safe travels, thanks for the vid

@FollowingABrokenCompass

I’m not an expert at all. From the reading I did, most of the risk comes when cleaning pigs and most the stuff that can cause you issues will die if you freeze then cook up to appropriate temperature. The pigs in dryer areas seem to have more issues and like anything check organs they can tell you allot and how healthy the animal looks

Great Video, Heading to the Maldives myself in two weeks and this got me frothing!! On a surf trip and admittedly know sweet fuckall about fishing. But seems like an incredible spot for it. Our boat doesn't have rods so will need to bring our own. Just wondering if you could advise what kinda equipment you brought and did you do anything special to prevent it form dinging your boards in the coffin bag, or just well padded up around the reel?
@FollowingABrokenCompass
@FollowingABrokenCompass 2 ай бұрын
Hey mate I’m going back in 4 weeks to do it all again. I put the rod in with my board and yeah just took the reel off and wrapped it in my towel. I usually bubble wrap my board with hard cardboard on the rails like the stuff you get on a new fridge - go rain a bin at the hood guys or something. Just don’t take your reel carry on as they will make you strip the line as you can tie people up with it hahaha learnt that the hard way. I just took usual lures that work well in the tropics, laser pro 120 and a few skirts so if we were moving faster I could use those. I just love having a rod out while your moving so much fun

Spot & stalk with my bow is about as good as it gets. In all my 60+ years of bow hunting I have never used a mechanical head. The only one I would consider is the Sevr 1.5. My young friend has a 100% kill rate on like 20+ deer and many hogs. My favorite head for many years now is the Magnus Black Hornets with the little bleeder in 125 grain using brass inserts. Total arrow weight is only 456 grains. Pass thru hits on whitetail deer is like 99%. Cool video again! 👍👍🐗🐗

Yeah I agree. It did smack the hell out of anything it hit and get straight pass throughs with some serious holes. I chose them originally as the feild point is deadset the exact same profile and they hit the same spot the matching feild points that come with them do on target. They however were no good once used- bent up and smashed. Also, like I said in the video….They freaking catch on the grass and trees, so when crawling in close they stuffed me a few times popping open, or getting caught and springing the arrow onto my bow making noise. I watched two nice deer on two seperate occasions just run due to this happening hahahahah. If I lived in America and had one shot a year I’d prob use them for deer, here you can loose a whole quiver in a day so you need something to do the job but last I rekon. Thanks for the discussion, I agree on the cheap and nastys everything else will be very similar for sure!

There’s allot of online apps and maps. Here in Australia they differentiate between states. All mining holes and drill logs are publically available, but yeah as I said in this video. Just cause there is no data doesn’t mean there isn’t gold. Some reefs are too small for big companies, and some were found and people never told anyone. I do allot of work in the popular gold regions but I also love the unknown explore!

I was just looking at the green bible and found a couple more hot spots that could be good and worth a look before the cold sets in, not unlike the area you looked in, rough terrain but now have the means to get there a lot easier, a scanoe. I gotta take it a lot easier now as I have done my knee in and walking on that slippery granite could land you in a world of hurt. That is one creek to strike off and not being profitable, so go to the next. Wish I was 20yrs younger I would be back out there roughing it up again. @@FollowingABrokenCompass Me, I dont hunt gold, so I only have thoughts that are based on uneducated evaluations of the real situation. I have always thought that if a person looks at the biggest producing areas (historical), and follow both modern and ancient waterways out away from the land, the first 100 meters of depth (given that the ocean level has increased 100m) will reveal deposits that man has never seen.

Three trips to nz and took one shot at 20m on a doe and one 45m frontal like they practically all present to you in the rut. And a clean heart shot from here is fatal. I did 8 weeks hunting total this year and wouldn’t really call that flinging arrows left right and center. Practice all year at 50m tennis ball groupings. I get what your saying but your telling me a gun shot from 150m- 350m over a ridge when you can’t even see a stick is better? Each to there own man, I have to live with the guilt of this and not finding him- that is hunting and it blows, and I hate I never found him. I do start to get frustrated about the bow calls but, as gun shots go of it’s always three or 4 in a row of a running deer getting peppered from a distance and I see the same beast running miles over the hills in the distance still hobbling away- or only a head and cape coming home no meat, there’s allot of crappy things about hunting. I appreciate your take on it, but with the amount of arrows I let fly and most hunts I go not even knocking an arrow it’s a little insulting.

@FollowingABrokenCompass
@FollowingABrokenCompass 3 ай бұрын
They move when Rodger Federer hits them hahah. But this tennis ball (deer heart ) pulled up and was stationary, it’s just all placement. Each to there own mate, I practice that shot day after day and didn’t attempt it for 4 years, now I really favour it I. The rut especially as they will pull up like that and push there cheat out, I am actaully currently sitting here now after the fallow rut in Australia cleaning an animal from the exact same shot. Clean hear pass through, your right….I made the decision to shoot and I have to live with that. It does still haunt me never getting the meat of that guy- I hate that for any hunt but these things happen gun or bow you just hope he died fast and by the crash I heard I’m the bush to silence he did. I think I’m very ethical in my approaches, I eat everything I kill while others hunt the rut and claim the meat to be rutty and just take heads and meat. Guys with guns on the distance rarely ring one shot, I hear 2/3/4 and still see the deer run away. Appreciate your comment, but on such large animals the frontal shot is a devastating blow. You just need the correct broadheads and weighted arrows to make sure you hit with a punch. Happy hunting to you- cheers 🍻
