In this video I compare two hunting tripods: The Primos Tripod and the Bog Pod Tripod.
I have used both tripods hunting white tail deer, mule deer, hogs, etc.
I like both of the tripods, but if I were to sum up my review:
Primos:
Pros:
- Great for quick shooting with a rifle.
- Great for quickly adjusting the height of your rifle in the field
- Very Sturdy to hold a rifle. I've taken 3 white tail with this all in a spot and stalk situation.
Cons:
- It's too long. It is not good if you are going to hike/backpack with it. It's much longer than any pack and will hit on brush and limbs if in the woods.
- It is not good for glassing. You have to purchase an aftermarket camera mount and the connection that comes with it is already not sturdy, so it is easy to lose game and stay on game with binoculars or a spotting scope.
Bog Pod:
Pros:
- It is very lightweight.
- It works great fitting on a backpack. It's perfect for western hunts / mountain hunting.
- It works great for glassing. Extremely sturdy and you can stay on your game.
Cons:
- It doesn't have a middle telescoping pole like most tripods, so you have to adjust the legs. With that said the legs do spread very wide, so it actually isn't too much of an issue, but it's worth noting.
- It doesn't have the quick adjustable "up and down" like the Primos does for quick shots in the field.
