Awesome, just the video I need to get pumped up! Our opener is on the 15th. Unfortunately I have a company meeting that morning but I am literally showing up in my hunting clothes and getting out ASAP. Been checking my spots the past week. Seen about 4 or 5 but kind of far apart. However that was just from the seat of my motorcycle. I'm sure if I get off and walk the woods a bit I'll find more. So excited!

Love the grouse hunting videos! and I agree Ruff grouse just needs butter, seasoning and maybe some onions in the pan. Spruce grouse goes in the pot pie. Season opens in two weeks where I am (Ontario).

Great video. I grew up in the NWT and still recall my first grouse meal - guessing it was a Ruffled Grouse as it tasted great.

The season just opened for me, Upstate NY Have you ever feathered them and cooked Ruff grouse with the skin still on? Any difference in flavor?

I like too soak the meat in cream or butter milk over night then fry it with some celery and mixed frozen vegies and sprinkle of chicken bovril untill brown add a cup of cream and a half can of cream of chicken soup let it simmer 20 min or when you see the broth come too the top. serve with some potatoes or rice, it will blow your mind. thank you for the video.

Headed out looking for grouse today! Ruffed grouse and dusky grouse here. The duskies are bigger and have more meat, but of course I never pass up a chance at a ruffie.

Hello from NW Montana! I've just started hunting mountain grouse this season. I mostly got ruffed grouse this year. Question: Do you hang your birds for a few days before cleaning them? I've seen some people suggest this. I've always cleaned them right away when I got home and usually cook them up either that or the next day. Just curious what you prefer.
@FarNorthGuy20Ай бұрын
Hi 👋, I always clean by birds as soon as they hit the ground

Glad to see grouse hunting videos again! I had 2 run across my path last week while riding my ATV, got me thinking that I'm going to have to check the regulations (I've just recently moved to this area) and get out there myself. EDIT: I seem to recall that you ran into some trouble with posting hunting videos, has that been cleared up? Was it specifically about actually showing you shooting at the birds? Honestly I can't remember the complete issue. No matter what, I'm glad you're able to film it again.
@FarNorthGuy205 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching, as far as the trouble goes unfortunately the way I was filming my hunts apparently the shooting and K** shots was against the guidelines and a few reports later I lost a few videos! But I figured out how to keep filming my hunts to share them here on my KZbin channel with minimal problems lol I will continue to bring hunting videos to the channel

Opening day yesterday here in AB, covered over 100 km of roads and only seen one group of 3 birds. I hope it was just the heat and not an indication that there won’t be any birds. Also the yellow jacket were very bad to.

Hay thanks for watching and I'm sure by the middle of fall the birds will be a lot closer to the roads there still deep in the bush at this time of year

Try air rifle for grouse will improve your odds of bagging some. Spring piston is nice and quiet so if you miss you have a better chance of a follow up shot a Springer of about 510- 550 fps is perfect
