Good to see some fishing on the island. I grew up there in Galveston, my grandfather owned a seafood steak restaurant there on San Luis Pass about half mile past the end of the Seawall Blvd called the Collins Captain's Table. Hurricane Ike finally took the place out after all those years, but when I was a kid growing up,I would go across the street to Henderson's Hole and flounder gig and fish of the beach there at Beach Park Pocket #1.....those were good times sitting under the Palapa Cantina that our family and friends built next to the restaurant. If you ever drive past there, say hello to my grandpa Captain Bill ,may he rest in peace. Pa

Stumbled upon your channel. Great content!! I'm from Galveston and grew up fishing with my gpa. We used to get up early, go to the east end, dig up Sandfillers, fish off the Jetty's off the seawall side. My gpa used sugar cane poles and he would catch about 50 fish everytime. So many memories. Fish on sir!

That guy was climbing all over those rocks with crocs. Gotta respect those jetties. When I was 18, I fell on the N jetty, slicing my shin open. Didn't really think about it. Next day I had a big red streak all the way down to my toes. Had to go to the doctor several times a week for months. Almost lost my leg.

Yessir!! Those rocks are treacherous. I slipped at the Texas city dike, trying to catch some bait. Stepped on that suspect slimy rock even though my common sense told me not to..never again. 33 stitches in my right hand
@robertintexas2 жыл бұрын
@@ROB-vq5oi I'm a klutz. about 30 years after the N jetty episode, I tried jumping onto a rock at TCD. It was like a 747 landing at Hooks airport. I just kept sliding. I went off the edge and straddled a barnacle covered rock in about 1' of water. Scraped from head to toe, losing my glasses. It took probably a month to heal all the nasty wounds I got.
@Zipper67672 жыл бұрын
Man, I can remember trying to cross that same cut/washout you were fishing next to over 30 years ago. Was hoping the core of engineers who built and maintained would have fixed it by now. I think it happened during hurricane Alicia. Anyway, it cuts that great jetty way to short and at times is sketchy dangerous to cross. Thanks for the video and memories.
@jube42 Жыл бұрын
Yes I've fished that jetty alot. Its very dangerous to fish. The better fishing is down towards the end but I wouldn't suggest walking that far. I;ve been in a boat down at the end and have caught everything from big speckled trout and reds to big sharks. My favorite though was a big Jack.

Been watching seal rescue videos of Ocean Conservation Namibia, It is amazing how much fishing debris from commercial and individual fishers are out there, along with some general. The entanglements from lines, nets, spools around necks, are removed, after spotting the injured, i the herds, which entangled from a distance, then running on sand to catch, to release as it runs to water to heal. Hoping fishers are responsible with lines and other fishing gear to not throw in ocean, good that some piers, such as 61st st have depositors for lines, but still see some below.
