Nabisco owned Huntley & Palmers and Jacobs back then. By that point what was demolished in the mid 1980s was the Nabisco Reading Factory and Head Offices when Nabisco pulled all of its UK operations out of the country to to concentrate on the US markets. I may be wrong but Nabisco may have been a General Mills subsidiary and along with all its toy companies divested its interests to focus solely on the US and Canadian markets again which was a real shame both to the UK food and toy markets in both retail and in terms of employment. After the sell off the Japanese Civil Engineering firm, The Kumaguy Group built the UK Prudential HQ in its stead. I remember seeing the new Prudential complex being built circa 1987 on the way to the Bakery my parents used to own on Wokingham Rd back then.
