Bayezid is so frustrating. So I'd the writing. He's full of wrath, insults other, is impulsive, and goes against his father's orders at every turn. Yet he's framed as heroic. I really don't understand why we're expected to support him compared to Selim.

@@Fairy-z6s I'll be honest, not sure how you got this far into the show without gaining the understanding that Ottoman sultans, like all other contemporary rulers of the time, were seen, both by themselves and everyone else, as "above" the average person and outright divinely appointed to their place in life. And that's without even factoring in the fact that, in the Ottoman Empire, it was legal to eliminate perceived threats to your authority, even if it was your own son. A sultan was your ruler first and a father second and to forget that he held your literal life in his hands was one of the stupidest things you could do.

@@tudorgirl7845 That's really a problem that I have too. There's very little to go off when it comes to Selim being somehow "worse" outside of certain antics when a child. It often seems like he's ostracized for no reason and judged on a completely different set of standards than his brothers. Like, I can see the picture the writers are trying to paint here, but it just doesn't come together.

It's irritating to see the double standards held for Bayezid. I love Hurrem, but I wonder if she'd do the same for Selim. It's really obvious how little support he has from his family. I really feel bad how alone he seems to feel
