I don't like Selim as a person nor as a ruler, but I always thought they'd all been unfair to him. He did what he had to to survive as the vast majority would. I don't think Selim was evil, just weak. More discipline and support would have benefitted him, especially from his own family.

He was evil like his mother. He learned from her. Selim was in a conflict. He knew what he was doing was wrong but he knew he had to survive. The inner conflict made him a drunkard and he told Hürrem that he was scared of his own parents. Mirimah was evil like her mum too but she never had bad conscience. She wanted Hürrem's praise to compensate that she was "just" a girl.

@@miamoser2389it bewilders me what the reason behind acknowledging the consequence of being passive in the struggle for power instead of active is death for yourself and you loved ones because of the customs but also chalking the character's actions up to their evil instead of them wanting to survive. makes me remember how big part of mustafa's support is made of people who did not outgrew childhood stories' black and white view, therefore only the characters they enjoy are justified in their violence, although both have their hands dirty. too why nurbanu is praised by then despite having the characteristics they judge in Hürrem. she challenged Hürrem. funny that she supposedly achieved what others couldn't in years, although Hürrem managed to keep Selim and Bayezid away from each other and Nurbanu couldn't go against her, she died out of illness and Bayezid executed.

Selim was really harsh for Cihangir, but Cihangir behaves towards Selim like Gulfem towards Hurrem

@@icedboba1446 no. He loved Muatafa who was a great and loved warrior. So why would he h*te on Selim? Selim could critisize Cihangir but not bring his disability in it. It had nothing to do with everything. A drunkard is not in the place to mock a person who is innocent in his condition.

Nurbanu didn’t bring Hurrem down. AT ALL! You got that relationship confused with Turhan and Kosem. Nurbanu and Hurrem were actually very close. All this drama was for this show. But even on the show Nurbanu had NOTHING to do with Hurrem’s down fall because Hurrem never had a downfall. She was a Haseki and Valide Sultan to the day she died.

The only reason that I found is that why Cihangir likes Mustafa more than his own siblings is that he didn’t see his hunchback and treated him as a person unlike Selim who reminds him that he’s nothing because of that. (For me, cihangir eouldve been a better ruler than this drunkard?)

@EmpressJGT The storyline of Cihangir simping for Mustafa and Mustafa being all “holy and sainty” is ball s--ск and it made their characters the most boring. They made Mustafa a Gary Stu and their relationship was very unrealistic and unlikely. Historically, Cihangir was an infant when Mustafa left to rule his sanjak and the amount of times they met again is questionable. Mustafa wouldn’t have the opportunity to really bond or create a strong relationship with his half siblings as we see on the show, they were very young when he left especially Cihangir. Anyways, back to the show we can both see that Cihangir started putting Selim down. Selim didn’t say anything and hasn’t used Cihangir’s disability against him until this moment. When Cihangir started insulting Selim, Selim obviously has the right to say something back. Just because Cihangir is hunchbacked doesn’t mean he gets to be excused for his words and that people must tip toe around him. He wasn’t mentally disabled, just physically. So when he insults he’ll get insulted back. Crying over getting a clap back to insults is ridiculous.

I really can'r stand Huricihan. Rana is a sultana, not a hatun, and the only things Huricihan can do are showing off her royal rank and humiliating other women. Even Hatice or Shah didn't do it that often. Besides, she doesn't even have one ounce of charm and beauty those two possessed. And her voice is beyond irritating. Another flat, wasted character in the season 4.

@@leoswiftieNo, she died close to the end of the last episode and she was a key figure as Beyazid main consort, not sure why they decided to use her though, maybe they wanted the drama of Beyazid having an illegal marriage or the fact that she was a Sultana of the Dynasty, not just a Slave or maybe as a way to prolong/bring back the memory of Hatice and mainly Ibrahim because he was such an important character and Suleiman suffered from guilt and regret until his death over his decision.

Why does everyone admire Cihangir and hate Selim. Cihangir wasn't glad to see Selim. He said Selim didn't deserve to be at Manisa. Is this brother's love and respect? Also this is the order of Suldan Suleiman so it means Selim deserves it. I reaaly do not understand why Cihangir do this... Selim was right, Cihangir wanted to see Mustafa, not Selim. Cihangir didn't respect his brother Selim, didn't really respect his mother Hurrem. Somehow he loved only Mustafa. I am wondering what is the reason for such love.

Exactly, they always teamed up against Selim. He and Bayzeid could fight all day long with Bayezid spewing insults but they'd go "Yep, Selim is the bad guy, always wrong" while ignoring Bayezid's actions and behavior. Selim was indeed sneaky and sly but the others weren't flawless either. They were willing to overlook Bayezid and Mustafa's mistakes and behavior but never Selim's. Also, apparently, according to this fanbase, it is okay for Cihangir to insult and provoke Selim but when Selim says something in return he's "evil". Like no, Cihangir's disability doesn't automatically grant him a free pass from getting treated as he treats others.

sometimes i hate the way cihangir treated selim. selim came to the room nicely and even hug cihangir, but his love for mustafa really make him blind. he doesnt know what would happen to him and his brother if mustafa take the throne. maybe mustafa wouldnt kill his brother but what about mahidevran? she killed mehmed, and she will do it again to another hurrem children.

Agreed, and in my opinion he is misunderstood because his reign was so short, only 8 years. Which was the time between his mother's passing away, and his father's.
