Mahidevran had literally everything: Eldest son, Valide was by her side, Grand vezier was by her side, Literally everyone was by her side, Sultan's sisters helped her with everything, influence over harem And still, she lost while hurrem had nothing but status of favourite (and she didn't even have that in the begging). With all of these privileges, she was so weak that she needed Mustafa to defend her. Having status of haseki sultan, she couldn't cope with concub!ne. Being THAT fool needs talent.

She was not a fool she was arrogant and preferred ego over happiness. This led to her downfall. Also in sultan's time if you are not the mother of ruling prince then you are nothing. A ruling prince could order execution of you and your children if he wanted to without having to prove much against you.
