OMG! I'm in Louisiana. I've been so concerned about this hurricane season. Stay safe.

@ingridthompson6512 thanks. I am on the north side of the island and the eye was just off the south coast so I think we didn't have it as bad as others. However, we are still stuck in our rooms.

@@laterlife2931 Ah ok. Honestly, it's very unusual to have hurricanes form this early in the season. I hope your vacation is salvageable.

@@ingridthompson6512 NOAA predicted in May above-normal 2024 Atlantic hurricane season. La Nina and warmer-than-average ocean temperatures are major drivers of tropical activity. So it's not unusual given the circumstances. People who prefer not to notice global warming and the reasons for it, are more likely to see extreme weather patterns as something unpredictable and something that one shouldn't try to do anything to prevent getting worse.

Do you know why they leave those covers out and didn't remove them before the storm? Are they intended to be permanently structures without the ability to take down?
@laterlife2931

@just42tube I don't know. I am actually going to make a video about the whole hurricane process. I was surpised they did not take them down but though maybe they were permanent.

@@laterlife2931 I deal with hurricane preparedness every year. I look forward to your perspective. I can say awnings, outdoor furniture and temporary structures etc... should be secured, brought indoors or indismantled then secured. Please keep in mind their are stages to hurricane preparation and often times financial constraints. There's the speed at which the storm is approaching. Then there's a mental fatigue that sets in when one does this year after year.

@@ingridthompson6512 A long time ago, in the early 1990s or late 1980s, I was sitting on a hotel roof bar and gym area looking at the sky above New Orleans. Hot air from inland was meeting colder air from the ocean. For me those clouds created by that collision and the afternoon rainfall was a memorable experience for me. I was told it to be a daily event at that time of year. Not unexpected or unplanned for in any way. Hurriganes, and definitely tornadoes, however seem to be in a different category Edit: correction : It was 1996

@@ingridthompson6512 I have to say, I do appreciate not having to worry about natural disasters in Finland. I like being based here and visiting other parts of the world when it is a good time to visit. I would never have gone to Jamaica in hurricane season if I had the choice.

Are you into storm watching and bored of what the Nordic has to offer that front. I didn't expect that from you. Or were surprised by the early season in Jamaica?

@just42tube I am here for a family trip. I would normally not come this time of year because it is the best time to be in Finland and it's hurricane season. However, I wasn't in charge of the timing.

@@just42tube This storm formed unnaturally early in the hurricane season.

@@ingridthompson6512 I am fairly sure no hurricane has ever been caused by anything unnatural, however you choose to define and divide natural and unnatural. It is mostly the high water temperature, which drives the process. Forecasters predicted months ago it was going to be a nasty year and now they are comparing it to record busy 1933 and deadly 2005 - the year of Katrina, Rita, Wilma and Dennis. “This is the type of storm that we expect this year, these outlier things that happen when and where they shouldn’t,” University of Miami tropical weather researcher Brian McNoldy said.

@@just42tube Semantics sir. I should have said it formed unusually early in the season. Again, I understand the forecast predictions which is why I'm concerned for all the vulnerable areas that could be impacted by hurricane landfalls.
