The starting bid was $7,500 for this Carver but by the time I got this video up the auction ended and someone must of bought it because its no longer listed and unfortunately I can't find out what it sold for. What do you think it was worth assuming the worst, that is salt water in the engine room? Do you want to see more salvage boats ?

It would only pay off if I can do most of the work myself and the engines are not a total failure. Then half the money could be enough to make it all worthwhile again! I've worked on Carvers in the past. They're not great boats but big and roomy as liveaboards. I'm a sailor and former sailboat builder, so these boats aren't really on my radar anyway. But under 10k for a decent, spacious liveaboard is not too bad. As long as the hull is good and there are no leaks. Things like rails and things are easily replaced, especially in Florida.

Can you help me find a damaged trawler?
@stratolestele761118 күн бұрын
I had a '43 express cruiser. Large bi-level cockpit, enormous foredeck, while down below you had 6'4" headroom, u-shaped galley, typical salon, head w/ sep shower, etc. But bottom line, yes, express cruisers are sexy to look at, the trade-offs are immense when it comes to interior space. They're best suited for day boats, overnighters, weekenders for a couple. The 44' Carver is in a different league entirely. A gorgeous layout, generous beam, upscale flooring, diesels, excellent galley and dinette, good-size heads,and I think the lines are perfect. OTOH, I'm not into the 36" at all. I never liked that period that started in the 2000s where the boats looked like hi-top sneakers. Not a nautical look in the slightest. I suppose I'm just a traditionalist and prefer making compromises that give you proper side decks, rails, and other features that favor seaworthiness and classic styling over fashionable interior spaces.

This isn’t hurricane damage, it’s lack of constant and diligent cleaning to beat back fungus and mold the bane of on the water living. Walk throughs on boats by non boaters have little value as in the case of this one. I saw the post by the previous owner detailing previous condition and how it got this way. That’s my boat! I had just gone through a divorce and my ex wife was living on it. I had that boat in pristine condition before she ruined it. The inside galley upholstery was re done in 2019. I used to wax and buff her every 6 months. She never took on water during the hurricane, I’m not sure why there’s black water in the bilge. The engine room should’ve opened up, I was just down there a month or two before this video was posted. She completed the loop once and I took her across the Gulf to Cape Coral, FL from Corpus Christi, TX. Those 8.3L Cummins still purred like brand new. All of the electronics worked but after the hurricane the covers fell off and she never put them back on which is why they were damaged by the sun. If anyone has any questions, let me know!

That's absolutely not true about the hall or everything done cheap. They were the best at their catagory in the 89s and 90s. Very thick halls untill you get to the 2000s. They are leasure boats. They're not supposed to be rough water or performance boats.
