25 year employee here. This model was real popular. We built them for many years and i was the Ciera product manager in the early 2000’s. The damage on the drives says there was an electrical issue either with the onboard bonding system, charging system, a “hot” boat nearby, or other stray current in the marina. The marine head has been changed to an electric pump unit. Don’t play with the shift levers unless the engine is running, use the buttons on the side of each lever to disengage the shift function.. they are called out drives. They are bravo twos. They are the work horse units that mercury produces. With the 5.7l engines this model is a blast to run.

People who say bayliners are junk are retards. All boats are the exact same. They all use the same engines, the same drives, and the same rv style components for operating the living quarters. Bottom line is if you take care of any of them they will all last and if you abuse any of them they will all go to shit

Probably worth saying: boat owner here and I grew up with boats this sort of size. 1. Look on the bayliner groups, people are paying crazy money for parts of these (well in the UK they are anyway). Worst case scenario you’ll make some easy money. 2. Check the structure of the boat, it’s probably ABSOLUTELY fine, but this sort of boat isn’t designed to be trailered on that sort of trailer. Check the curves in the hull, and check with a flashlight the surface of the lacquer, then check under the floorboards for any delaminated areas. Honestly you’ll probably be fine, just better to check before you put any money into getting it on the water. Great find lads!

Yep great buy! The z drives uncouple from the drive shafts quite easily, then you can replace them, make sure you get the up graded double props called duo props replacement z drives, also the hull is a fully planing hull which means it will go fast over waves! Also the reason the z drives have corroded so badly in salt water the zinc anodes or sacrificial anodes have never been changed hence the corrosion as the drive bodies are alloy castings as are the props. Also means oil and filters not changed on cycle. The risers and manifold need to be replaced before you put it back in the water.

Out drives were eaten up by electrolysis. Either they were painted with the wrong kind of paint or sacrificial anodes were never replaced. Engines and generator look good.

That was a good buy now you need to give it a good clean up job and start spraying pbblaster and wd4o and then remove the lower units to check the engines can't wait to see the outcome of this built good luck 👍 you guys can do this 👍

Best wishes in the rehab of your purchase. Looks better than I thought it would. Find the weight at manufacture. and the present weight. That will tell you the amount of water weight entrained in the foam core construction. That water can be baked out in a 120 degree shed. Takes three weeks to drive it out, but the weight savings/fuel savings will be worth the expense of the heat you will need to maintain.

You got a great deal I purchased a 93 3055 new for 72 grand and it was a great boat. Fix/restore this one and you will enjoy the heck out of it. Bayliners are better than what most people realize. You will need new outdrives and I suggest installing Bravo III as they will really make a difference with performance, handling and fuel economy.'

Good god man!! It's a bilge pump!! Basics!! And FYI there's a bilge drain plug in the transom outside of the boat that should be open but this boat likely being in the water though it was likely never removed as the corrosion crusted it over and made it impossible to even find lucky the engines didn't go under water, usually there are drains around the engine hatch covers or floor to help drain water away from the engine compartment but still got very lucky on that one...It's not a matter of whether or not the RV can pull the boat in straight line or not, it's whether or not it can pull it up and down mountains etc.and out of the water which I doubt I'd even try..Also all boats have the length right in the model for example yours is a 305 Ciera which is 30.5 ft long, the out drives on that boat are going to be expensive but if no other engine damage well worth it I'm a bit envious until you have to fill it with fuel. I have a 220DL Searay so it's 22 ft long and also a 175 Bayliner and it's 17.5 ft, another Searay that's a 190 so you get the idea..

Check on the through holes for a start, then the internal electrical system and electronics then replace the outboards and you will have a great boat!

You may have grounds not connected causing electrolysis to eat the drives check the drive when you replace then check for voltage also add a couple more sinks to protect the drives. I sold those for twenty years they are a great boat . We never could keep them in stock. They also handle extremely well even in heavy seas.

I was given one. I put $5,000 into fixing up and repower using the original short block. Since the boat only had 23 hours on it. I sold it for $8500 after two summers use. I bought a CHAWK 222 w/150hp mercury. Last boat, I will ever need.

Bayliner is a brand that is at the low end of the scale. The stern drives are junk and will be expensive to replace. Try to locate used units. If the engines are decent, you may be ok.

bayliner under 26 ft are cheaply made but the 3055 is a fantastic boat, built well and fast fast fast. any bayliner over 30 feet is going to be a fun and great boat.Used to be service manager for them and stratos. The 3055 also comes in an outboard configuration but either way, those or the 454 bravo outboards can get you over 60 mph.the generator is rock solid and the a/c system is normally fantastic as well. Inside, under the steps is a huge bedroom area.

Hunt around for the outdrives. I'm in Florida and they come by amazingly cheap. If the engines turn over freely by hand, they'll run. Get the outdrives off first thing, Marvel Mystery oil through the spark plug holes, fresh oil and filter, FRESH GAS (may have to drain the tank..smell it) and start each engine up. If they have an expansion tank on top of each engine and antifreeze in it you don't have to worry about overheating the engine if run for a short time, but if they have separate raw water pumps you'll have to disconnect the belt to avoid burning up the pumps. If cooling water is supplied by a pump in the outdrive, you could stick a garden hose into the inlet. Don't run them long out of the water as the exhaust manifolds will not have any cooling if your water supply is not sufficient

Me and my dad worked on these growing up. He was the the head engineer on rotariis an engine component manufacturer for mercury on the 5.7L engines. The boat has been flipped and the waterline corrosion says the boat sunk fully at one point. Don’t spent anymore money on it.

Bayliner’s are the GMC of boats. Mass produce OK Boats. They get there reputation of being bad because first time boat owners buy them and treat them like learning tools. If you don’t have water damage and no soft spots replacing the merCruiser‘s is easy. You’ll have a perfectly running boat for the price of new engines.

I think you should make it a family boat... split the marina fees among all who will use it... you two.. your Dad/Mom... and maybe even one or two trusted shop employees. Get it running and looking nice and then just be sure to schedule out all the maintenance. Boats can be fun... but my Grandpa says they are just a big whole in the water you drop money into. The only way to do it is in something like a time share situation among some trustworthy individuals.

As its been Said for Sure need check all electrics I watched a buy fitted 2 brand new Out Drives and Just sitting the marina for 3 weeks both out drives was eaten alive as it had a electrical Fault and the Current from the Marina eaten the Drives so Must if you going to Keep it Fix that and Don't forget to do so Good Luck Looks a Great Boat for very Little Money

I'd have the hull and under floor area inspected before any money spent to restore it . Even trailoring her could of caused damaged unseen.
