Hurricane Donna Sept 1960

IslandPark Memories - The rest of the footage from an 8mm film Brian and Christopher Darcy's father shot of the damage from Hurricane Donna Sept 1960. He got in his boat and went down Vanderbilt Ave filming along the way. That's Mr. Darcy in his motor boat in the beginning of the clip. Island Park NY.

wow. i wasn't born yet. but donna's are very strong ! i moved to i.p. in 1973 or 4. i know i was in 3rd grade, i started school at 4. growing up there i don't recall any bad storms. the first one that was bad i can remember was in 1985 in august. for the life of me i can't remember the name. but, it was no where near this bad !

irene was worse because of a lot of issues. but this look the same as water hight etc. a new population with less skills and the media crazy dramatizes everything on top of the main issues at hand .
