Went to a game in Auburn.. was immediately hit by a 12 ft. surge. My brand new 2006 Dodge Dakota was swept into the ocean. I was hanging out with Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton, Running through the famous Alabama corn fields when we had to hide in a barn and fasten ourselves to a cattle mount. We were flung around the center of the eye and I felt the reach of god. My wife and my dog lived, but I lost my gun. I wish they'd have taken the wife. I, however, did meet ol' Nessy. She was swept to the gulf when Dorian passed Scotland. Silver Linings. 3 stars --- would recommend

I'm very close to Folly Beach. It really was not as wet as they are claiming. I had 4 foot of water sitting in my back yard last year. No sitting water at all in this area from Dorian. I don't know why they're sensationalizing, but they are. I'm a real scaredy cat for these things, it enrages me when they're not truthful. There was tropical storm type winds, but not sustained rip your house apart winds. Thanks for the prayers!

Anyway, I was changing my strings and it reminded me of this clip I saw. There's this band, Black Midi, and one of the guitarists broke a string. They got 6 inches of rain and 6 more inches to come in an area that should be prepared for these types of events. Every 30 years or so my community gets hit with a major rain storm of 2 feet in the spring. They brought in the Corp of Engineers to help design the community to handle that much rain. It worked. We are just small town folks who put our monies together for the good of the community. They can do the same so events like this won't phase them.
