Hurricane Georges in 1998

I had actually travelled from state north of Mississippi to Biloxi on business and was there when the hurricane hit. The eye travelled right over the town and the whole system had slowed to approximately 4 mph. We had to stay sheltered for a day and a half longer than expected. It was terrible. The damage wasn't "Katrina" level, but it was still very bad, especially for the economy.

You failed to mention the category when it hit the DR.

Thanks for the feedback. The Georges video, like most of the other hurricane videos on my channel, is focused on impact to the US Gulf Coast. Georges was a Category 3 when it struck the DR, and then lowered to a Category 1, moving into Haiti bit.ly/3LoAOj0

We were stationed at Barksdale during this time. My mama and brither drive up for a surgery of mine. They drove back during the time it was hitting the panhandle and I remember telling them "Stay for another day"

I Remember Hurricane Georges When I Was 5 Back In 1998

I was ten at the point of its occurrence. In fact, this was the first hurricane I became familiar with during my respective experiences growing up. Speaking of which, at least I now realize why hurricanes and tropical storms are provided with names that are typically provided for members of the human race. Because of this, it prompted me to find out if there was a hurricane I happen to share my name with, and it occurred twenty years later in October 2018. Coincidentally, Hurricane Georges occurred right around the time the Google search engine launched!

I remember this like yesterday. We had damage in our home in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico and it took 3weeks to get a hold of my mom.

Intensity at landfall in Puerto Rico was 115mph (Category 3).

I was in Antigua when hurricane George hit, no mention, but we were told after it hit us it went on to Monserrat and killed over 300 people.. Richard Branson came to our rescue, flying many.9f us on to Barbados .
