Hurricane Ian Hit us HARD in Florida | No Power or Cell Service | Stressful Night | Home Vlog!

In today's video we hunker down at home in preparation for hurricane Ian that's projected to hit a good amount of Florida including the Orlando area (which in fact it did directly). I show you what we did to brace for the storm from start to finish. I also bring you all along for the long scary night during the worst part of hurricane Ian. Finally I show you all of the damage around the house as we lost all power and cell service as well. I cook a few meals on my black-stone since we don’t have any power. Last minute we heard that some gas stations were open for a few hours, so we decided to hop in the car and drive around to see some of the insane damage from the storm before figuring out what our next move will be for the next few days and stop at the gas station for supplies. Thank you. There are many people that are not okay in the greater Orlando area. So many homes, apartments and senior facilities were flooded and have to be evacuated. No where near the devastation further south but life changing for sure.

I went through hurricane Maria in PR and spent 6 months without electricity. So I was worried and prepared for the worse. I live in Winter Park. A palm tree fell on my driveway and luckily my car was in the garage. My neighbor parks on her driveway and luckily the tree fell my way. I have not lost power, Internet, or cell service, so I feel lucky. I pray for those affected.

6 months wow! Where in PR do you lived? I was 24 days without power after Maria, which I consider it not that bad, since some people were like 2 months or more without power. I live in Moca, a town that's usually forgotten. It was a tough time! Now for Fiona I was 9 days without power. Gave me flashbacks to Maria... But it wasn't that bad at all.

I’m from New Orleans and understand completely…I had serious damage from Ida last year and was without power for almost 2 weeks…but it’s absolutely nothing compared to what those poor people in fort myers have experienced/what they’re going home to. Each day without power after Ida, I was in a miserably hot house with absolutely no gas to be had anywhere - I’m talking for hours on end in all directions…but i reminded myself on the daily how blessed i was to still have a house to sit in even without power. My heart just breaks for south Florida and anyone elsewhere who suffered serious damage, loss, etc.

I can only imagine how scary Hurricane Ian was to get through, I live up in NH and we rarely if never get hurricanes but we do get really bad Nor’ Easter’s in the cold winter months and we can lose power for days on end. No heat and no power I know really stinks. The main thing is that you and you’re family are safe that’s the most important thing. The power will come hopefully soon for you and then things will slowly return to normal. Thanks for all the vlogs that you do , even during and extremely stressful experience like this. ❤️

Hi Dev👋 Native Floridan here ( living in East Orlando area now). You might want to consider getting a NOAA radio. When all else fails, you can still get auto weather alerts for floods, tornadoes, hurricanes,fires and earthquakes .I used mine last night. Can't recommend it enough! I have the :Midland E+Ready radio, got it on Amazon last year. You can research and find the best for you. This one has: USB charger, AM/FM radio, weather alerts/weather radio, flashlight/SOS button, dynamo hand crank to recharge the battery , the rechargeable battery is good for 25yrs. and a solar charger too. It can charge your phone. Just thought you might want to know 👍😊 ps: love your channel 🥰

Tmobile DOES NOT have any backup power generation on their network. Att runs firstnet, verizon has a first responder network as well. Part of the gov requirement for them is to have backup power for their cell towers. Att was rock solid during the storm in Kissimmee even with the power out we got 100mbits. Verizon varied between 5-60mbits toward the end of the event.

Thankfully, you didn't suffer too much damange. It sounds like you guys were prepared. I''m in VA and I went 7 days without power after a hurricane Assume you will lose power during a Hurricane: I would recommend : 1. battery-powered radio and or battery powered TV with an antenna. as you can see from the video, you can't count on your cell service. 2. a battery powered Fan!! (something I had never thought of getting before. 3. a way to cook when power goes out. camp stove, grill etc. and of course the usual preps: some type of portable power , flashlights, extra batteries, fill gas tank, fill bathtub with water. ice etc.

This is giving me flashbacks of SuperStorm Sandy in NJ. (And New York) None of the gas stations had gas. It was Wawa to the rescue. The governor put out that license plates ending in even numbers could get gas on even days and odd numbers on odd dates. We sat in the car in line for four hours one night and four hours the next to get gas. I was happy to sit in a warm car. It was SO COLD in the northeast. (End of October). Wawa was the only place that had gas. I think Florida is probably better prepared for such a huge storm. We didn’t have power for 10 days. Which is down to JCP&L. Also bc our governor lived in the same county as we did. There was no way we were getting power until the rest of the state was back online. Not fun. I’m glad y’all have somewhere to go that has power! Hunker down. Hang out. Y’all will be back at it in no time! Desantis has the eye of the Tiger on this one! Glad y’all are safe! ❤️

I LOVE that you are smart enough to realize with the power out you can still cook on a BBQ.......When the electricity grid went out in Texas there were queues of people going in drive-thrus and they use THE SAME POWER as everyone else........I know some people don't own BBQ's but many people do and so many people had no clue what to do when the electricity went off as to how to cook food. It is scary when people are so used to McDonalds drive-thrus they have no idea how to cook.

So glad you guys are basically safe and sound. And glad you have a power option! I was about to rate your Keurig option genius, but...well you tried lolol. As a New Englander, we get blizzards with power outages. Let me give you near the top of my survival kit (and tasty at other times hehe). Trader Joe's sells an Instant Cold Brew. There is a mgr who does haul videos and said if you are like her and NEVER drink Instant, you have to try this. She was right. I never thought I'd see an instant coffee that makes a really good cup of legit coffee!! NOTE: if you ask them for cold brew in a jar, they may point you to one filled w/liquid coffee. Very good, same name, but you want the crystals you add to water. You will never be out of coffee again!!! And while made to be cold, you can heat it! Hope you are back home soon and always, look forward to more vids!

Happy your family is ok I live East Orlando, Ian path was to pass through us we dealt with horrific winds of 115-120 mph for over 12 hours GOD IS GOOD I have no damage no missing anything from my house no flooding nothing. Devy we have been following you about a year & a half my daughter found you on Utube when you were doing a video on Discovery Cove & Universal & we decided to do both on the videos that you did looking like a great time,we went to both parks it was a blast. Any way in regards to hurricane Ian we were vacationing again in Orlando in Kissimmee area Holiday Inn vacation club Orange Lake resort…we were stuck there our flight got cancelled Wednesday..this was our first ever hurricane SCARY But no better way to experience it staying at the resort… horrible strong winds & hard rain! Some damage but not bad . But we were safe & finally were able to fly back home to Nee Mexico Saturday after the hurricane 4 extra days yikes! I love Orlando & will be back next year! Thanks for sharing your experience. We are waiting on Ian here in SC. It’s always good to know what to expect. I have lived through a few hurricanes (including Hugo) but each one is different. The part about the lack of cellular service was pretty discouraging. Love that Blackstone grill!!! And all your cooking work arounds! Glad you guys are okay and didn't have any major property damage or flooding. I'm in Winter Garden Horizon West area and thank goodness we had zero floods in my community, no power outage and very little wind damage to our home. Definitely never been in an hurricane like Ian. I lived like 30 minutes away from Disney, 20 minutes from the Orlando International Airport, and Ian was super intense. I couldn’t sleep when the eye hit our location. We had flooding, no power, or any cell service. I was so anxious and I had the hardest time sleeping. Luckily, nothing ever happened to my apartment. But still, Ian was something else and I only been living in Florida for over a year.

Glad you guys are safe!! Hurricanes are so scary. Live in North Carolina, the "Hurricane state". Been through a lot of them myself and saw so much damage and loss. Sending prayers for everyone in Florida!!

Sending prayers to you and your family Dev 🙏We got extremely lucky in Tampa. Sorry that the flooding caused the power and cell phones to go out. Now we have to take all the shutters off our house. My in laws Iive in Port Charlotte and the eye hit very near to them. They thought it was supposed to hit Tampa so they didn’t prep like we did. Plus the electricity is supposed to be out for a while. My husband grew up in Fort Myers/Naples and every place he has memories from in those cities has been completely destroyed. Heartbreaking for that area.

Hi! I'm at cabana bay and uts been adventure for sure. We just learned the parks will be opened tomorrow for Universal hotel guests. HHN as well will happen for those same people. I'm very surprised with flooding and damage to parks. Hope you doing well

This is the time of year. People in Florida look at all those beautiful trees. An see nothing but 40 ton wrecking balls. Just one gust away from being on top of your home. Well so have fun with that.😛😅😆😋😂

Thank goodness you both are safe! I have been through two major hurricanes on our small island of Kaua’i! The damage to our island was devastating! Glad to hear you had minimal damage at all. Stay safe! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

So glad you all are safe.i deal with Tornado 🌪 but I can't imagine all that water coming in .scary. praying for Florida.your food looked so good. The Hulk Rollercoaster some of the track is buried in water.whatch out for Dinosaurs 🦕 they got out from a massive hole at Jurassic Park .Be safe 🙏
