It's also cool to see all your data points mapped out... it's really helpful to compare that against other observations. And those winds during the back-half, when you were at US41 & Gardner Dr., are insane!!! Excellent presentation and editing!

Thank you, so much for your comment! Do you have any contact in the weather service that could have the conversion formula to estimate the wind at 10m? My anemometer was at 8ft, it would be so cool to have the conversion estimates.

I think the cleanest readings were on HWY 41 (minute 47:03) and by the Shell gas station (minute 01:10:44) and the last wind gust above the bridge (01:23:06)

@@HurricaneXplorer Well, a private ob in Port Charlotte before 5pm recorded a sustained wind of 115mph gust to 132 in the northern eyewall, not even the peak conditions per the NHC 7pm advisory for Ian. The Punta Gorda airport on the eye of the weaker, eastern side eyewall had a 135mph gusts and the instrument failed. Western side was much higher gusts than that but we will never know. Did you see the Severestorm Studios surge cam on Sanibel? On the "weaker" eastern side Ian looked pretty strong on the eastern side as well for first landfall. That footage was amazing. That palm tree bending nearly to the ground was violent. Looked close to 140 sustained. Reed Timmer's footage from Pine Island the "weaker" side is still intense. Land interaction due to slow movement is a big reason the eastern side got weaker for places inland like Punta Gorda. I was shocked how strong the eastern side was on Sanibel after seeing that footage. Some of the wind damage on third story buildings, especially on Sanibel loosk violent. Wall failures and nothing left of the roof. I mean plywood gone, some exposed trusses remaining. Anyone if they stayed and went to a third floor to escape the surge would be in trouble due to the wind.

I just input the highest wind gust measurement of 94.6mph to a wind profile calculator with the roughness parameters set to (town, village) and the answer was 157 mph at 10m 😱😱😱
