I remember I was 8 when this happened and I didn't know the concept of Hurricanes yet. This was the scariest night of my life

I was the same age. I don't think I'll ever forget how terrified I was all that night. Walking outside during the eye then getting hit by the back side of the storm

I remember Ike. My mom and I evacuated north to stay with my grandma, but it still hit us hard there too. Roof tiles got scattered everywhere. Trees fell, including one that fell on my mom's car. Water and power got knocked out. And yet somehow I managed to sleep through the main part of the hurricane itself. When we finally got home to Houston, it was similar. Roof tiles from our house were scattered all around our yard. Our fence was broken. Other damage happened to our house. A tree fell through our next door neighbor's roof. And yet by some miracle, our street never lost power. The rest of our neighborhood did, and so did most neighborhoods, so my mom started filling up as many ice trays as she could each day to then give out to our family and other people in our neighborhood.

The fact that the insurance companies were not going to cover them absolutely infuriates me. This is why I hate insurance and think it is an evil business that should instead be a basic right you're entitled to.

Let’s stay focused on the real victims here not you or your daughter you Narcissist!!! You sound like #46 when he talks to Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen and the Coasties, ALWAYS interjecting his son into the conversation without empathizing with who he is talking to!!!

I was 5 years old and we lived in Alvin. We left and went to my aunts in Grandbury for Ike. When we came back we had pretty bad roof damage and there were trees down in the neighborhood. Almost a decade later and we lived in Corpus Christi and we experienced Hurricane Harvey. We went with my church to help with some people in Rockport which was in the eye of the category 4 hurricane. I’ve never ever seen so much destruction from any storm in my life.

I remember Ike pretty vividly, I was 13 at the time and my family and I all had stayed at a motel in Stafford, The lights went out and all of a sudden it gotten so hot in the hotel room and we saw the storm pass by, I also remember I heard glass shattering I literally thought it was one of the hotel rooms windows busted, I was so scared until I saw that it was actually the fire extinguisher’s glass on the door broke when the winds swung it against the wall. I also remember that the water was coming inside the hotel room, This hurricane was pretty horrific for me.

Ike was way worse for us than Harvey, we barely kept our house. Harvey came close though, the flooding was at our doorstep.
