Next time you're on a plane that's just taking off , remember this is the speed at which wind is blowing outside relative to you. And this is the speed at which wind is hitting the wings. A plane taking off is basically a plane getting blown away in the wind, but in a controlled manner.

Irma was so scary! The entire state was on edge waiting that monster. Everywhere from Miami to Tallahassee felt her effects! Tampa Bay was empty from the wind pushing west!

For me, as I'm lighter and weaker than an adult, with wind of this strength, I should be tied so as not to get blown away by the wind. I would never go outside with wind like this

i remember.my.friend telling me that he was in.his mobile home when irma hit & then he said the mobile home started to move as it was going to flip over or come.out the blocks that hold the home up.he never stayed in a trailer after that again.

@@KevinLuWX Yes, if you're specifically talking landfall intensity, you're correct. As for wind gusts, they were officially recorded as 142mph in Naples where my video was shot.

@@1193bobmcc Those are gusts that are either recorded at an open area or elevation above nearby buildings. You're usually not going to get those kinds of wind speeds at ground level surrounded by structure. I certainly don't see any 140 mph gusts in this video. Maybe you didn't catch it on film.

@@KevinLuWX that number 1 is sustained and number 2 the right eyewall was stronger and they only covered the left eyewall because naples was in that I was in the right eyewall as it came onshore and I believe that it was 130-135 sustained.
