@@AFloridaSon As a native Floridian at 53 years old, I agree. For us, it's actually unusual to see and hear about such a high number of people evacuating. We generally just grab some beer and candles and ride them out.

@hard-truthsbetter-than-swe6543 It's not always about a lack of planning, though. Remember, they just did this 2 weeks ago. Finances and supplies haven't had time to recover yet. Then there are those who physically can't evacuate. However, there are those who think they know better and will try to ride it out. Those people will occupy emergency resources that should be used elsewhere.

I went through a similarly large storm in 2019: Typhoon Hagibis in Japan. It reached peak winds of 120 mph, compared to Milton's 160 mph. Thankfully, I was in a well-built, well-prepared Tokyo, so we didn't have to worry much-just stayed indoors. Unfortunately, less well-built areas in the countryside were devastated. People in Japan didn't have a chance to evacuate because that monster storm swiftly moved from the south to the north, affecting the whole country. Milton's 160 mph winds will be devastating. Good luck.
