Jimmy, a little advice from a former coastal S.FL resident: don’t wait until the day of the storm to purchase fuel. During hurricane season we kept ALL of our vehicles filled up, had our “bug out” bags ready to leave at a moments notice.

Never been in a hurricane been in the middle of a few tornadoes. I live in Washington and we don't get hurricanes but we have Chinook winds. I don't remember what what year it was we had one of those Chinook winds come through and sink the i-90 bridge I don't remember what the wind speeds were but they were above 90 mph we don't get them often but it took down the power and lots of trees and kick roofs off the house just in the area. Glad to see you're okay by the way it was a category 3 hurricane type wins that hit

I was in the direct path of Milton as well. It's the End of the World and I Feel Fine. No real problems here except the area of the yard where the septic tank tank is under water. The water level was down quite a bit last night and I was hopeful things would be normal by the Sunday and I could do some laundry. Then, last night, we had 2.3 inches more rain! The water level is now even higher! Anyway, I just repaired the only damage to the house, a piece of soffit that had slipped off, then inspected the roof and found it perfectly fine.

You are doing a great job, all the pilots in the area who rise to the job when something bad happens.. When you do replace the helicopter, you must consider a turbine like an MD500 or even better a UH1 (tong in cheek). When disaster happens again, which it will, you will have a machine that has capabilities that piston helicopters do not. As your helicopter training has finished, I hope, as part of the unofficial syllabus of rotary wing training, you read 'Chickenhawk' by Bob Mason; it defiantly an unofficial part of the syllabus here in the UK. Helicopters are far superior than fixed wing, "far better to stop and land, than land and try and stop". Keep the good work up and my thoughts and blessings are with you all who have been affected by the hurricane.

Even though I live far from where this happened (not even on the same continent), I totally appreciate how you just went out there and started helping. Of course, you checked on your property along the way, which is totally understandable, but just going out there with a chain saw and clearing the road (and I know that this is just the beginning) deserves a salute 🫡.. There has been some comment criticism lately about you being too goofy, but the way I see it is that you are a fun loving person, but when the situation is serious, so are you. Your totally different tone of voice in this video made it pretty obvious. On a much smaller scale, I have also seen how people just come together to help - some years back the area I lived in was hit by torrential downpour. Without storm, there was no damage to roofs, trees ans such, but since buildings here have basements, a lot of places flooded. The entire night, you saw people "armed" with buckets, mops, floor squeegees, shop-vacs, whatever was deemed helpful in the quest to get the water out of the basement, go from one house to the next to help the people there, even if they didn't know them. I was one of them...

This one was a nail biter for sure. Glad you guys are ok. Im up in inland Citrus Co and we were blessed up here with I think max of 75mph wind. Rain was insane on the north side of this thing and the number of tornadoes? Bro. This one was still no joke. It could have been so much worse if it had of been a high 4 or Cat 5 at landfall. Hoping this is it for the rest of this hurricane season.

25:01 my hangar neighbor had this happen to his hangar during a storm, the bottom of the door blew in and hit his 182. I drilled holes in the bottom of my hangar doors and into the concrete, and put 3/4" steel rods through, to secure the doors and (hopefully) prevent that from happening. I put the rods in every time I close up the hangar.

My dad, Col. Norman Walker (USAF, Ret, Dec 2023) was in MATS stationed in Japan when a massive typhoon (hurricanes on the other side of the IDL) was hitting his base. He was _THE_ guy when there was a mission that pushed capabilities or was particularly risky. So he was tasked with seeing whether they could fly the C-118s out. His experience is a story in itself. The TL;DR is after he managed to get in the air he commanded the rest to man the rest of the aircraft and "fly" them on the ground. That decision saved over a hundred aircraft. I thank God that more was not done though there's tragedy enough to go around. God, place a hedge of protection around our people in FL and affected states.
